Reggie is trying to win a SuperBowl, why would he sign with Carolina over the Pats?

In New England he doesn't have to take a huge role to contribute, in Carolina he'd have a higher workload and would wear out.

Not in Carolina because they spread the ball around. Be would have been a cog in the system with the Panthers just like with the Pats. The difference is that the Panthers need as much WR depth ad possible because their core is not that talented IMO now that BJ is hurt. Play they still have some young guys on the roster who could learn a thing or two from Wayne.
