Big, little, deuce of spades, deuce of diamonds is the HBCU way. That’s how I learned. Slapping cards down hard on the trunks in Bethea Hall and talking cash shyt.

Richard Pryor was the big joker, Eddie was the little. I forgot the codes we had for everything else, so we’d run commentary until the other team caught on. Mostly did it against the ladies.


Then years later I got online and started playing and had to learn ace high, nils and blind nils, and counting bags.
