I'm more shocked that he didn't take the Pedo St job and went to USF instead. I knew that we wasn't going to keep him forever and it's better to get the HC experience now because we don't know how long Day is going to coach because OSU will burn you out over time with the high expectations ever year. Plus we was putting WRs in the league before Hartline but not at the clip that he was doing. There are going to be a lot of young hungry coaches fighting for the WR/OC duties. Or Chip may come back as the OC and Day just focus on finding the right coach for the receivers. OSU will be fine.

Off topic, why is every coach is avoiding the PSU job :russ: ? I understand why they wanted to move on from Franklin but it's looking like that they are not in the same realm as these other big time programs within the coaches circle. They have to lower their expectations and realize that PSU is now a stepping stone for something better. Their AD and fans are getting a harsh reality check at this moment.

Apparently his agent Jimmy Sexton is the boogeyman among the coaching circle. He’s steering every one of his clients away from them after they fired Franklin. There’s no reason why they couldn’t get a coach from BYU.

I don't think mfs expected BYU to up that 💰 as quick as they did, lol.

Them Mormons & Crumbl owners wasn't prolly tryna play 💰 games when NIL wasn't here as it was immoral or go against the good book, lol, but now they on that timing. They have sum church organization literally payin' some of their player's payroll.

@OSUBaneBrowns a lot of it is just delusion---possible agent games being played aside---and them having OSU/Bama like expectations on a Big 12 budget:

According to On3, Penn State is paying its players an average of $87,000. For the recruiting class of 2026, the number is even lower.

The site sources Penn State with a $59,000 average payout for players. That’s lower than Texas Tech ($81k), Washington ($72k), Ole Miss ($72k), South Carolina ($72k), and BYU ($69k).

Penn State is frequently in the final groupings for recruits who hold offers from Oregon ($232k), Georgia ($189k), Ohio State ($150k), Notre Dame ($104k), and Michigan ($91k)

The fact that Franklin even had them in the Final 4--big game performances be damned--was actually overachieving in sum ways. They low-key should've tried the Khakis approach....reduce his salary, force him to look at certain QBs/OCs, etc.

Cuz now, who gonna wanna come work with that when other teams willing to pony up more cash to pay players even if u can give me the 💰 as a coach. I need ya infrastructure to be in place.
