catching the holy ghost.

No disrespect, I grew up in the church all the way up until I left home. But something always made me curious. I would see people go up to the alter, the pastor would say whatever it was he had to say, he would place his hand on the person's head, then the person would fall down to the ground and act like they was knocked out for however long. I went up there once and the pastor tried that on me and I just stood there and the pastor mushed me in my head again and I still just stood there. Dude looked at me like :martin:. I didn't understand. Was I supposed to play a part or was it just supposed to happen?

Of course other times, we've all seen people catching the holy ghost and running laps around the church while screaming.

Then theres talking in tongues....do people know what they're saying or are people just making noises.

I've always chalked this stuff up to be people attention whoring in the church after a certain age. I could be wrong, but thats why i'm here asking now because i honestly dont know.

The number one thing people usually do when getting the Holy Ghost is praising and worshiping God.

This other stuff is to be seen by people. It will put you on your knees crying out for mercy and repenting or flat on your face. Too muck fakery out there.

Jesus said what the Holy Spirit was supposed to do when his brothers received it, and it ain't what you see in those gifs.

Talking in tongues literally meant speaking in different languages.
That was only supposed to be done if you had people present who understood that language. Paul said (1) you don't need to use the gift of speaking in tongues if everybody there understands the same tongue, and (2) that ability was a gift that was going to eventually go away.

It's all there in the Bible...

I think people can have a genuine feeling where they have some type of spiritual breakthrough or moment of repentance/acceptance of God transforming their life and it manifests in different ways. There's bible verses about speaking in tongues in The New Testament.

But people are too much into performance and dramatics these days, doing too much to be seen , like this, screams fake and forced -

I spoke in tongues one time when I was like 11. It was actually in Creflo Dolla's church in College Park, GA.

When you go there for the first time, they took you to an after service room where you sign up and pray and shyt. I was there praying with them and they was like just let go, let God take over you. And I let go and started speaking in a language I never spoke before :ohhh: and it was a legit language, like I wasn't saying random shyt to myself, something else took over my voicebox and was speaking through me :wow: I ran out that bytch after that and never returned :mjcry:
but it's real brehs
