Sorry to re-up this old ass thread, but I found out my company wants me to change teams and I might end up relocating to Dallas. I'm making around 45k (yeah I know ), could I afford to live comfortably in Dallas making that kind of money? How's the public transit there? I don't think I would be living there for the long haul, so I don't really wanna buy/ship a car out there.

If u single with no kids making 45k u balling in Dallas

Long as u don't get a expensive ass crib

Dallas by way of Houston by way of San Antonio
Potentially looking at a move to Dallas from Houston. Wife would be working downtown, while I might be working in Colleyville. Good shyt in this thread already...would be looking at a house with mortgage payments of about $1700 a month... Any thoughts on areas in that price range? Would actually hope to avoid having to use the tollway every day (average about $300 a month in tolls in Houston right now :snoop:).

Need more info on your range for houses. 150-200K? 200-250K? etc.....With what you gave so far you may be the only person that may use a toll road to get to work. If you want to live closer to your job than Coppell, North Irving/Las Colinas, Grapvine, some parts of Lewisville, Colleyville, and Southlake. Closer to her job you can go in any direction...just depends on what you want. 75 and George Bush(tollroad) are chit in the morning and afternoon rush. 35 is always jacked up. 121(tollroad in most parts) is smooth sailing except by the airport/Grapvine area where they are doing construction still. The original tollway that runs from downtown Dallas all the way past Frisco is heavy during the rush hours.

I'm thinking $175 -$250K range. I was hoping if we lived closer to Dallas that traffic driving out to Colleyville wouldn't be bad.

I'd probably prefer to live closer to the city...I don't mind the commute to work as much as my wife does
