My girl is a teacher
And I have dated and have family members that are teachers


And contrary to what people want to believe

Not all teachers spend a lot of off time grading papers and doing school related shyt
Not all are coming out of pocket

The median salary of the teachers I know is about 50k

And that is down south where the money stretches longer

They can make more by working summer school

My girl makes 30hr to tutor on the side

They can get a whole other full time job in the summer and cake up


High school teachers seem to work the most

But if u teaching 1st grade u are not taking long to grade anything



My girl teaches 2nd grade and honestly it is a fukking easy ass job
Yet she will complain

The cost of living is higher in LA, but it's not like wages are proportionately higher. The teacher salaries are around the same in the cheaper areas of California as well and across the board, they're much higher than the average person is making in the private industry. Caretakers in your local daycare are changing diapers, handling sick kids, and dealing with all kinds of bullshyt for $12 an hour.

This thread was not meant to be a fukk teachers thread. Nor was it to say that teaching in the hood is easy or desirable. Teachers have to deal with a lot of stupid kids, stupid parents, politics, made up diseases, allegations of mistreatment or discrimination, etc. For the teachers who genuinely care, it's a stressful job. But let's not pretend that they're not doing very well compared to the average household.

My five children are far easier to control compared to me trying to control five adults.

Paid well compared to what? They got go to college, finish college and keep going to college.

Weekends off, holidays off, 2 months straight off in the summer.

This is big atleast to me. I have a home girl that's a teacher and she always home on holidays (cause she's off) and of course summers she can plan ahead WAY IM ADVANCE vacations because she'll know she'll be off.

I work in a hospital work holidays/weekends and damn sure I'm not getting 2 month vacation. But I know a lot of jobs have holidays/weekends off not just teachers but I think it is something they take for granted cause not all jobs are like that.

I can tell you right now the starting wage for an elementary school/high school teacher is not $80K. Some are lucky to see $35K. It depends on what district and where you live.. like basically everything else. You can't compare California to Iowa. Or Alabama to New York City.

But middle/high school was what made me reconsider a teaching career. Some of these teens are insufferable a$$holes.

Starting salaries are lower but they increase quickly. I think in a lot of areas, you're tenured and making the bigger bucks after 2 years.
