Remember how teachers always complained how underpaid they were?

hey that's on you breh... i spend way more than 8 a day with my son and lets not get into weekends

and this is 10 times worse you saying he's 5... what in the fukk is she/he teaching him for 8 hours that requires some level of difficulty?? a 5 year old? what high level of teaching would justify paying her 6 figures like some people said

better yet.... all these people talking about they should make more......

you know that comes from YOUR taxes right? so which one of y'all signing up to pay a few more percents of YOUR money, so teachers can make more than you?
So is day class just a day care for your kids?

What do you expect from the teachers?

You all over the place breh. My kid has the same teacher all day. High school kids have differnt classes but those teachers have a new set of kids every hour which could be argued is harder.

I knew you would have the perfect rebuttal. But tell me how much time someone working a 9-5, while there kids are going to class full time and going to bed at a reasonable hour can spend over 8 hours with their kids?

This thread is really encouraging me to pay for private schools. Cause it should go without saying that more pay will means better education. Apparently not to some of these dudes.

You're wrong about one thing. You do not "still get paid" in the summer. Your 9-10 month paycheck is stretched.

Well, she has retired from NYC going on 8 years and i know for a fact during her years she would get paid in full for the rest of the summer months and then it changed to 5-6 checks in which she had a specific future date range to cash those checks. She wasn't stretching her last month's checks. So for the time frame I'm referencing that would be false in the NYC region as a teacher during the 2000s. She got paid for those summer months.

I can't speak on current payroll on NYC teachers as of now though. Are you referencing NYC teachers?

You get paid for 10 months but they divide it into 12 months so you can get paid over the summer.

This is done so teachers wouldnt collect unemployment during the summer.
Quoted from a teacher of 30 years.

Got ya, thanks for clarification.

My mother is a 30+ year teacher as well and that isn't true in NYC. What state are you referencing ? That don't go down like that in NYC. Having teachers claim unemployment during summer months.

Most teachers don't make 80K a year. And if they do, they deserve every cent of it.

Teachers don't just show up to class at 8 and go home at 3.
They grade papers.
They tutor.
They prepare lessons.
They actually do work during the summers.
Often, they have to come out of their own pockets for school supplies.
And they're educating your stupid fukkin kids that you won't because you're tired from your job so you sit them in front of a tv or hand them an iPad and then you're outraged when they perform poorly and have no sense of the world or history.

Only a fukking a$$hole would complain about teachers having some sort of cushy gig.

:rudy:

Nah

A lot of teachers do the bare minimum

There are a lot of teachers who are actually overpaid

I think he meant so that teachers don't collect unemployment
Their salary is divided into 12 months instead of 10 months so that there will be a paycheck over the summer...

So if a teacher makes 120$ ( just for mathematical clarity)... The 120 is divided by 12 so that they get 10$ every month for the whole year...

Instead of their 120$ being divide by 10 and them getting 12$ a month for the school year....

And this is true for NYC

Yeah I believe that's what he meant as well. You explained I guess what everyone is saying with much more clarity. Are you a teacher by profession?

:russ:... So you are saying they don't pay you enough to teach children? :mjlol:

So now is anti unions not just anti teachers... Oh... Ok :francis:

Nah. I'm just not interested in it. There are plenty of jobs out there that pay well that I never wanted to do. I just threw that in there because I don't want people to assume I'm speaking out of jealousy.

And I'm not anti teachers or anti Union. Why are people getting so defensive about this? :heh:

Not really defensive. I just can look back at growing up and see the raise in income and what i had(material) to compare. My mom got multiple degrees and went to school for more money.

She went the extra mile as far as her class. She would have actual themes every season, she did it big. Plus she was teaching when when racism was heavy so she had little white kids calling her ******.

One thing ill say is shes no longer in the class, so she would be classified as a old school teacher so i guess she cant really speak for all the young teachers of today.

But when i worked as a tutor in harlem, kids was fukking in the bathrooms, selling dope in the halls and there where flamboyantly gay 3rd graders. It wasnt a walk in the park. The school was literally surrounded by the projects. And that was my fams first teaching gig after graduating college.

I can recall in time i was tutoring an after school program. And a little kid walked past me and said "ouch why did you do that?" Like i hit him. From then i kept my guard up around those those 1st graders.
