My mom was a teacher and anyone who thinks it's a kush job or easy money is stupid. Even more so if you work at a public school. Soooooooo much fukking bullshyt you have to deal with. Forget administration and their unrealistic benchmarks, but dealing with parents is what drove my mom nuts later in her career.

Most teachers don't make 80K a year. And if they do, they deserve every cent of it.

Teachers don't just show up to class at 8 and go home at 3.
They grade papers.
They tutor.
They prepare lessons.
They actually do work during the summers.
Often, they have to come out of their own pockets for school supplies.
And they're educating your stupid fukkin kids that you won't because you're tired from your job so you sit them in front of a tv or hand them an iPad and then you're outraged when they perform poorly and have no sense of the world or history.

Only a fukking a$$hole would complain about teachers having some sort of cushy gig.

:rudy:
:wow:

It's even worse with how shytty parenting seems to be these days.

Way too many facebook posts i see where parents be happy school starting..as if it's daycare :bryan:

Not really defensive. I just can look back at growing up and see the raise in income and what i had(material) to compare. My mom got multiple degrees and went to school for more money.

She went the extra mile as far as her class. She would have actual themes every season, she did it big. Plus she was teaching when when racism was heavy so she had little white kids calling her ******.

One thing ill say is shes no longer in the class, so she would be classified as a old school teacher so i guess she cant really speak for all the young teachers of today.

But when i worked as a tutor in harlem, kids was fukking in the bathrooms, selling dope in the halls and there where flamboyantly gay 3rd graders. It wasnt a walk in the park. The school was literally surrounded by the projects. And that was my fams first teaching gig after graduating college.

I can recall in time i was tutoring an after school program. And a little kid walked past me and said "ouch why did you do that?" Like i hit him. From then i kept my guard up around those those 1st graders.

There are a lot of defensive people in here though. I never said teaching was easy, I never said they need to get their pay cut, I never said no teachers work hard, I never said that teachers have high salaries their first year, but people came out with their pitchforks anyway with no idea why they were upset. All I did was come here with facts that my teachers are some of the highest paid people in society and they were selling sob stories that teachers don't get shyt.

This level of blind rage reminds me of the responses I got when I opposed the Iraq invasion in the early 2000's :heh:

After rereading the thread title and first post i can understand the push back. Most teachers arent paid based on your stats.

Im speaking on my experience just like most of the bashers.

But hey its your opinion.

Like I said, when teachers told me they were struggling, I believed them. I thought they were making $40-$50k or whatever the equivalent would have been back then. The real stats told a different story. Now more teachers are in here telling me the same old story and I'm supposed to believe it again? Show me pay stubs :martin:

While I was getting ready to go back to school to get another degree, I needed a 9-5 job so I applied to state jobs, got a job working for child services here in Indiana. I'm guessing that I'm an educated black man with no shyt on my record got me the job even though every other job I applied for, I was qualified for. Anyways. I was deciding to go to school to either get an MBA or a teacher's license. Three months on the job, I signed up to get my MBA. I realized that I have my own kids and I didn't want to raise anyone else's kids. Teaching kids is hard breh. Especially in the low income neighborhoods where its generational poverty and no one they know has made it out while their views of normalcy are so warped and away from what it really normal. Not only are teachers teaching textbook work, they are also teaching and educating to break the cycle of the culture that is prevalent there. Teachers deserve all and then some. Real heroes. I'll stick to just teaching part time at a university.

This.

I guess i have to go deeper.
When i said that the school was surrounded by the projects, i meant completely. Meaning some of these kids never leave that neighborhood. They go to the nurse when they are sick not the doctor. Other than feild trips(that it's usually no money for)they dont leave that area at all, unless they live in the projects across the street. You ever heard the caged animal quote. This school was basically that. In the morning its dope pushers and feinds roaming the courtyard, same as dismissal.

Imagine being put there fresh out of college, student loans and all. Some of you dont have a clue.

How much would it be worth to have a former president be a teacher? How about an astronaut or a former psychiatrist teaching a 10 year old or even a successful college footbal coach.

Seems yall really didnt think this through. I hope your kids get the teachers at the rates you think they should be getting.

I don't want to be a teacher and I don't want to take a paycut :heh: That's not what this is about. The "problem" is that some teachers fail to realize they have it better than most people do. Then again, it's normal for people in unionized jobs to be out of touch with how things work for everyone else.

I went to high school with some people who barely graduated....they became teachers. They would be hard pressed to find another job that paid them 50k with 3.5 months of vacation

Starting teacher salary in houston is 50k

There are some teachers who deserve 6 figures

Some teachers deserve 12 an hour

All through elementary school and high school, these clowns were complaining about what a lowly unappreciated industry education is and how they all struggled.

The facts:
They only work 6 hours a day
They only work 8-9 months a year
They get full pension and benefits after they retire, something very few people in the private industry will ever get

And I'm checking the transparentcalifornia website and these disgruntled teachers are making base salaries of $80-$90k :wtf: Sure, they're not "rich" but if you're a teacher and your spouse has even a menial job somewhere, you're easily in the top 10%. Cops make twice as much as you'd think they do too :scust: It's no surprise the government always has budget problems.

As someone whoa dating a teacher, most of this shyt is false. But I'll continue to let you cook.

Where I'm at my high school sociology was giving an example and said teachers start between 40-45k.

Before that in middle school I remember my math teacher chopping it up with someone else and commented on my English teacher making like 80 or 90k but she was there for umpteen years.

My middle school principal had/has a vintage Rolls Royce though :bryan:

Edit: Also teaching little children may be more annoying than anything but probably not hard. If I were to teach I'd prefer middle school, high school kids too grown and are capable of adult (a$$hole) personalities.

It's easy to armchair QB this from afar but this shyt, especially in the inner city, it's not enough. They should make more than me at I make a damn good salary.

Not if those little hellions have a fukked up environment to grow up in. You'll be trying to do everything in your power save from taking them in yourself to save them but they will continue to view their mom/dad as perfect and can't do wrong or even worse, shyt that mom/dad does and just become indifferent to it. I watched a 5 year old girl slap her 4 year old sister for something that she did and say that she was the woman of the house while mommy was gone. Sticking some crayons in her hands and a baby alive only goes so far. 5 in age, going on adulthood in maturity while mom is doped up with a needle in the bathroom. I've seen the worst of the worst.

Yeah I get that too. The town I went to school in is no middle class town. It has gotten better though. But yeah it's sad that adults demons affect the babies. I know the big cities in my state (Newark, JC, Elizabeth, Trenton, Camden) got some fukked up situations.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
So is day class just a day care for your kids?

What do you expect from the teachers?

You all over the place breh. My kid has the same teacher all day. High school kids have differnt classes but those teachers have a new set of kids every hour which could be argued is harder.

I knew you would have the perfect rebuttal. But tell me how much time someone working a 9-5, while there kids are going to class full time and going to bed at a reasonable hour can spend over 8 hours with their kids?

This thread is really encouraging me to pay for private schools. Cause it should go without saying that more pay will means better education. Apparently not to some of these dudes.
Every job has fringe benefits...Some jobs you have company cars for personal use, some jobs you can telecommute, some jobs you can collect airline miles for flights the company pays for... Some jobs you get all government holidays, paid paternity leave, Christmas bonuses or summers off... You can't whine about the benefits another company pays out... Go work for those companies and be glad
I thought all teachers needed a masters degree... My bad, but the point remains

:russ:... So you are saying they don't pay you enough to teach children? :mjlol:

So now is anti unions not just anti teachers... Oh... Ok :francis:
i've had the same point, all thread

teachers are doing just fine... that was my one and only point...

i didn't say they need to make less... i also said they don't need to make 6 figures

i pointed out why i think this... cause they have 4 months off.. and their pay reflects that... 44k is 3.6 a month... if they worked those extra 4 months and got paid for it, that would be an extra 14.4k.. giving them an avg of 58.4k a year... is that not good enough? they should be getting 6 figures? what 80? 70? for a 3rd grade teacher with 11 kids? every teacher is not in compton high you know

so we don't need to have a sob story about them... they get paid well, they get 4 months off, some aren't even teaching a hard class or a tough group of students... and that's fine.. we dont need a pitty party

You get paid for 10 months but they divide it into 12 months so you can get paid over the summer.

This is done so teachers wouldnt collect unemployment during the summer.
Quoted from a teacher of 30 years.
If they worked summer school i dint think they get the same rate of pay. And summer school isnt for the whole summer.

Would you want former doctors, former college and pro coaches(motivators of men) therapists etc. teaching your kids or let your kids be the product(some posters in this thread)of low income teachers and education? (Thats a rhetorical question.) how do you attract those professionals to teach kids?

Your problem is happening in single job feild( people not holding their weight). But in education the great teachers produce scientists who cure cancer, innovate and create the technology you take for granted.

Point is good teachers are worth more than their being paid.

If you disagree, you should make it a point to send you kids to the poorest school lowest income school district.

Paying teachers more isnt just that. Its also resources. They wouldnt pay a teacher 6 figures and have your kid on a year 2000 desktop computer.

Yall really havent thought this through.
