Can't wait to see the ratings for last night :patrice:. I don't know how a nicca can watch that Thurmond/Guerrero fight and talk down...watching Thurmond drop Ghost and Ghost on the canvas with his shyt split open, take a 8 seconds to get right then respond the next 2 rounds on some "Ima die in the ring before I lay down" type shyt. Watching Thurmond in the early rounds...the merciless way he set Ghost up. Shyt like that give a nicca goosebumps and the reason boxing will never, EVER die.

UFC didnt try to market Kimbo, they tried(and succeeded) to expose and destroy him. Because they didnt create him and he was more well known then all their fighters. He represented somthing very dangerous for them, some brawler with no professional pedigree more of a household name than their champions.
Everyone knew about or had atleast heard about Kimbo and those fight videos, his hype was nuts
I was referring to all of these promotions who were almost go the side show route with the likes of Kimbo and Herschel Walker.

I love boxing and mma. I don't even like comparing the two because they are different sports. But you can't go around saying things like "boxing is dead" or "mma is taking over" when those guys are being paid peanuts and boxers salaries are rising. Didn't cotto just sign a 50 million dollar deal for 3 fights? You can add up the last 20 ufc cards and i doubt their fighters made that much combined. It's a fact these guys are being paid 90k to headline ppvs while boxers you've never heard of get double in non ppv fights.
People who say boxing is dead or dying are just as ignorant as people who say the same about MLB. Just because you don't like it or aren't interested anymore doesn't mean it's dying.
Close thread. Discussion over.

For me, boxing peaked when Money Man threw Shane, Zab, and Oscar in the bushes:birdman:

...it was also embarrassing, to see the end of Roy Jones chapter:huhldup:

Ya, man Broner went from ShowTime to NBC:sas2:

theres only prime time boxing tonight because al haymon paid out the ass to get some primetime slots over the next few years, not because there was some huge demand for it by the networks
Mr. Haymon's BLACKEXCELLENCE on a hundred, thousand, trillion...LITERALLY:damn:

...and, he declines by all accounts, to be AWLL up in the cameras:takedat:

3 million views but how much did he make :lolbron:

Vegas weekend when UFC fights going on :yeshrug:

Vegas weekend when big time boxing fights going on :merchant:

I don't make a habit of counting these dudes money but I think he made a few hundred stacks. I don't know what fighter salaries have to do with the popularity of a sport anyway tho, that line of reasoning is so dumb. The avg Golfer makes more than most boxers, is golf more popular?

Lesbihonest, there's maybe like 3 big boxing fights a year. 2 of them be Mayweather fights

The death of UFC would probably be the best thing to happen for MMA stars. The top guys get paid like shyt because the UFC has to use money to babysit the other 100s of fighters. While it's great to have all the fighters unified under one umbrella it drives the purse that the top guys can generate down.

If mma was setup like boxing where promoters/fighters setup their own events they would get paid more. But instead they are slaves to Zuffa.

And you idiots that pull for one or the other are stupid. Watch whatever you want to watch, you nikkas are worse than the xbox/ps4 clowns. Anytime somebody is getting hit in the face Im watching...whether it's Mayweather, Ufc, or world star fight comps.

An MMA cac takes one shot to the dome and he's out like :dead:

Guerrero keeps fighting and fighting. Hey, if nonathletic brawling cacs is your thing then :manny:

..and before nikkas get in their feelings. Yeah, I respect true talents like Jones and Silva but lets be honest. Most of these cacs in UFC have no real martial arts skill. They try to outbox one another half the time :pachaha:

Jose Aldo is the a world champion and the 2nd or 3rd best pound for pound in UFC and he stays in an apt in Brazil with his roommate. Boxing will always be above MMA in America mainstream wise, UFC was only bigger in Canada when GSP was on top, and it's bigger in Brazil and japan. Boxing is bigger than MMA everywhere else.

:patrice: whats he wrong about? Is boxing not dying? Other than Mayweather and Paq there are no big ticket boxers from my knowledge. Like he said after these guys are gone will there be another universally respected boxer? I honestly dont think so:francis:. Who's gonna be running boxing after Floyd and Paq retires? I think they are both dying
Deontay Wilder should be pushed to be the next big star IMO, I think he could save the sport :obama:

@Dan_Plunkett: Premier Boxing Champions' 2.53 overnight rating beats all but four MMA network primetime events (two UFC shows and two EliteXC shows).

Boxing will be around forever. It aint ever dying because its been around through centuries. MMA will forever be playing catch up.
