$8.00 fuk no. Maybe 4-5 max. I'm pretty sure each artist had there own deal though. An artist could make good money off of Koch though because there was no serious overhead to recoup. It worked well for mid level artists because they were already established and weren't paying the label back for the usual marketing a new major label artist costs. It wa also a goo place for an artist between label deals to eat real quick.

I dont understand why this would be a bad place to sign nowadays tho?
Right now more than ever you can promote yourself virally. Which means you don't really need a big label doing a lot of leg work for you. So why not sign with someone that'll give you more $ per unit sold, if you do more legwork?

I remember when Cam'ron told 50 Jim Jones has more money than Lloyd Banks because they were on Koch making $7 a cd

The Angie Martinez Show-50 Cent/Camron Video - YouTube

Koch probably sent them a check for $7 per cd, 400 k x $7 = $2.8 million. Jim Jones albums probably had a budget of $250k at most.

Dip Set was shooting their own videos and had their own producers, they were in a very good position to go indie.

it was a good deal 10 years ago, when it was still important to get your product on a physical disc, with distribution

What they said (I think) is that they see like $6 or more per CD after the label breaks even or makes a certain amount of profit

So if you go way past what the label needs to make money, then a large chunk of the extra sales are yours
