STOP.

I was growing up in inner city LA/Long Beach during the 3 peat era. Wasnt NO hood nikkas hating on Kobe. We loved that nikka, he was literally God.
When my grandma bought me a pair of kobes, i wore them to school the next day and literally nikkas was looking at me like I was walking on water.
The big kids let me sit at the bacc of the bus with them that day, and even shared their candy with me :ahh:
Thats how powerful Kobe was breh.

The only nikkas who hate kobe are wanna be thugs who praised ALLEN IVERSON and his image, and are bitter that Kobe shytted on him :umad:

different story in the locale. i know ex convicts who love RG3 but on the coli he's revenge of the nerds status.

is there a question in this thread?

kobe is still a cornball with no cred outside of basketball skills. catching a suprise sex charge ain't change that.

main reasons...kobe grew up overseas and connected more with foreigners...his well documented fued with shaq while shaq was still the best player in the league. kobe had no humility and needed a huge dose. then he erased all doubt of him being a lame when he name dropped shaq after pluggin that white chick's sphincter.

All true, but still irrelevant. There are very few legit thug nikkaz in the NBA anyway, it was just a matter of choosing the superstar with more street cred(AI) over the superstar with a more squeaky clean image.

That kind of hating mainly comes from the east coast, namely new york. Good players, who respect other good players and show love to the community get love and respect but for some reason new york, probably because of hiphop require individuals of african descent to act like street people as a prerequisite for respecting them. This tells me they require the individual to be demonic, to respect him and thats so demonic, friends.

Sadly, kobe, when he got in trouble for infidelity snitched on his teammate to shift the focus, which hurt his respect in the black community.

My stance has always been that "street cred" was just a myth that white people made up, but the Kobe hate was real. It just had nothing to do with "streets" and more to do with his image and personality.

Grant Hill and (despite the article I posted) Vince Carter had similar upbrinings and were superstars who didn't have the same problems. What made MJ, T-Mac, Magic Johnson, Walter Payton or any other superstar athlete "street credibile"? The answer is nothing.

Kobe just came off as arrogant and entitled. Black folks don't really use the word "douchebag" but thats what it was...

I think that press conference in high school with the glasses on top of his head set the tone. Plus he came across as spoiled because he father played pro ball, so there was no early struggle in his story like AI .

True, but here's the thing; I think Kobe's was more out of respect, but Kobe never wore 23, he wore 8 and then switched to 24, he signed with Adidas and not Nike. Lebron had a different mission, I think some people at Nike along with Lebron set out to move Jordan out of people's conversations. He used 23 as a branding identity more than just a number, some of his first shoes looked like Jordans. And that's why Jordan isn't a fan of Lebron so much because MJ feels like Lebron is trying to kick him completely off the mountain, where Kobe just wants to find room near the top.

Juan Roberto's bald spot
minimizing it to ...'caught a sex charge',or 'his infidelity',meanwhile some poor shmuck is going crazy because the girl he tried to :cape: is traumatized and is lashing out because she was raped and doesnt know how to deal with her personhood being violated.
