Dems perennial weakness is being seen as out of touch. A San Francisco/CA pretty boy liberal is not going to help. We need a Dem that is a solid liberal/progressive on economic issues but can't be seen as fully captured by the annoyingly "woke" element. Newsom and most politicians from CA came up in an environment where they had to kiss white Hollywood liberal ass. And don't forget dude slept with his advisors wife. People are sometimes willing to forgive politicians having affairs. But people never forgive/forget true scumbag behavior.

Trump probably still beats all them. If Pete can figure out how to not piss off black people he's got the LGBT vote. He could cobble together a coalition and maybe have a chance.

The only issue I saw with Newsom was when he got caught having a private get-together after he imposed a COVID lockdown. So in terms of out-of-touch, yeah, that's a bad look.
Newsom slept with his advisor's wife. Scumbaggery. But I don't think that's on the level of John Edwards scumbaggery. Recap: Edwards slept with his assistant, while his wife was battling Stage 3/4 cancer and was going to some of his rallies. Then got caught and tried to make his advisor claim the affair. Advisor was married and the wife wasn't having it. Then it was found out that the assistant was pregnant. And after he lost the nomination, he tried to have his mistress and wife be friends. The wife wasn't having it. Edwards is the truest of Dem scumbags. Top 3. Edwards, Weiner, ?.

Watching how Pete’s people play the media, vs how Harris gets killed in the media, is interesting. He’s clearly got people who are happy to take stories to the press, and they like him enough to run them. I’m sure Harris loyalists go to the press often with positive stories, they just aren’t run.
We’re not electing a gay president. I said it last year and I’ll say it this year: if he was straight (or closeted lol) and married a black woman, he’d be president right now.
I believe inside the next 20 years there will likely be a gay president. Society for the most part accepts gay people now. The republicans will not go for it but the independent and democrats will.
I think they could win the popular vote, but it’d be a tall task to get the EC votes from the south and Midwest. But like a wise man once said, anything is possible.
