what makes nas above all the other mc's is it's like when he dropped some lyrics it's like they are direct quotes of some obscur holy book

he have a way to flip definitive formulas like

"nas is like the afroentric asian, half man half amazin"

"blood of a slave, haert of a king"

"Heaven and hell, rap legend, presence is felt
And of course N - A - S are the letters that spell"

and to think the two first bars don't even rhymes :ohlawd:

Freedom or jail, clips inserted, a baby's bein born
Same time my man is murdered, the beginning and end

This was actually the first Nas track i heard. I heard this on the Grammy nominees 2000 CD. Popped in my lil stereo i had, I was about 13, hearing the first line alone i became a fan

"Freedom or jail, clips inserted, a baby's bein born
Same time my man is murdered, the beginning and end

But what's it all worth, can't take it with you under this earth
Rich men died and tried, but none of it worked
They just rob your grave, I'd rather be alive and paid
Before my number's called, history's made

One of the first songs I heard on the computer for the first time.
One of my brehs growing up was a hardcore Nas stan. I'm talking about sitting on the basketball court with the it was written tape cover reading all the lyrics type of Nas stan.
When this joint dropped, I was in my freshman year of college. My breh came over to my dorm to use my roommate's computer for something. I wasn't even there. I get home, my roommate tells me that he was listening to Nas is Like on Real Audio over and over for three hours straight. :mjlol:

Keeping my overhead low, and my understand high
nikkas was straight :lawd:

Other than "Phone Tap" Nas last few singles and videos had been on the commercial tip with If I Ruled the Ruled, Street Dreams, Street Dreams Remix, Firm Biz.... and then he dropped an all-time lead single with a classic Premo beat and no hook. The video premiering on Rap City in the QB stairway :ahh:

That's probably his best song ever, real talk.

CLASSIC production. Lyrics to match. Impact on the game.

:mjlol: @ Beanie Sigel tellin Funk Flex he can't rap over all those fruity flutes and shyt
