Back in day Conference Championship games and Super Bowl were 1 week apart.Why did they change it?
Remember when it was 1 week in between Conf Games and Super Bowl?

Because of 9/11 season was pushed back a week , which pushed back the Superbowl and at they time there was a automative show the week after
The NFL had to pay millions to swap dates.
So now that extra week is there in case a emergency arises during the season

No, it's been 2 weeks vast majority of the time, only a handful of times were it was 1 week.

Correct. I can only remember it being less than 2 weeks inbetween a couple different times. It didn't feel right either so the NFL immediately went back to the 2 week deal.
