Come on breh. We know that 2010 was the end of his prime.

Kobe was still an elite player at the time but as Cantstop mentioned, his knee and ankle were damn near toast during the playoffs to the point he was considering retiring that offseason.

Kobe had a bad ankle that year. Remember that is the time he turned his ankle so bad folks thought he broke it or blew out his knee. He didn't even have any explosiveness during the playoffs that year.

Are we talking about the same Kobe who outperformed Lebron James against the exact same team that sent Lebron to a shrink in the offseason? He managed to play better than the "best player in the world" with zero cartilage in his knee, that Kobe?

Nobody talking about LeBron here bro. Y'all can't defend Kobe without bringing up someone irrelevant to the conversation.

Kobe wasn't healthy that year. He was clearly on one leg winding down that regular season and in the playoffs vs us.

Just look at his numbers and how he performed the 2 seasons after that playoff round vs. Dallas. It backs up the notion he was on one leg.

The real culprit for that series being a sweep was Lamar Odom being the one who fell the fukk off, and Pau Gasol going through a horrendous spell where he couldn't buy a bucket and was getting abused by Dirk down low. Bynum was also making a lot of mental errors and just generally getting outplayed by Tyson Chandler down low on defense and on the glass.

This sums up the series for the Lakers:

Kobe won a finals MVP a year before. It's not a reach to say that his prime ended in the 2011 playoffs. :heh:

:dahell: Kind of logic is this? Kidd was still a good defender when he came to the Garden and shot the ball very well for the 1st half of the season; doesn't mean he was in his prime. Duncan could have won Finals MVP this season; doesn't mean he's in his prime. Dirk wasn't in his prime in 2011 when he won Finals MVP.

Kobe shot 40% from the field in that series. Only thing he did better than Pau was average more ppg much more inefficiently; doesn't mean he was in his prime.

Lj ain't on Kobe's level. A healthy Lj who really was in his prime, got punked by Kidd, Barea, Terry, etc, who are all half his size.
