who knows, they might have been grimey before and decided to just live up to it because sticky hasnt exactly changed his tune
this doesnt really mean anything though, look at wu-tang for instance, before they released their first lp rza had prince rakeen - oh we love you rakeem, and gza had his words from a genius album,.. both of which the style they used was pretty much forced upon them from their record labels at the time and look how they turned out .. and i dont think anyone can question how "real" wu tang is.. specially in their earlier years![]()
good points. naughty by nature was another group, if im not mistaken. and you know aint nobody questioning them either.
and then theres artists that never rapped hardcore but were hardcore off-wax.
whether theyre real or fake, ive yet to see anybody call onyx out on some real chit. all you hear about is their underground style.
Doug E Fresh brought that up in 93 on his song "aight" around the same time Onyx was hot.....@ 2:39 he goes in....using Onyxs chorus, a fake fredro and the fact that everyone knew they were dancers prior to being hardcore

i always laughed at how there was an onyx billboard in the background of one of the scenes for a few seconds when they were driving.
i never knew if that was done on purpose or if it was just a coincidence.
