Quality bigs aren't easy to find. It's not like there is a surplus of quality bigs. There may be more now then when the Heat were making their run. On top of that, if you want a quality big, you're going to have to pay for one. Cap issues prevented Miami from doing so.

I dont buy the premise that you cant find bigs......

There are role players in the NBA , D-league and foreign leagues all over the world that could likely have fit that need. Spoelstra was simply beholden to his small ball scrambling defense because he had 3 players that allowed him to get away with it.
