Do you realize the Bills play a game a year in Toronto because their fan base stretches all the way to Canada? How is that a bad thing? :heh:

But yet you laugh at the Saints, who fanbase is basically the Gulf Coast Region (Stretching to Florida) and same team who was top 5 attended team on road. You have no idea what you talking about. :heh:

The Saints are the only NFC South fan base worth mentioning but they're still not up there with the Pittsburghs and the Green Bays of the world.

But Atlanta? No.
Carolina? Hell no.
Tampa Bay? FUKK NO!

He's talking out his ass. You can find Saints fans almost anywhere in the entire South stretching damn near to the Carolinas. Falcons fanbase isn't quite as big, but a significant portion of our fans can be found in every state bordering Georgia.

Then he wants to shyt on Atlanta teams having bad fans, yet the Braves are a national brand with fans everywhere with strong local attendance. Dude is talkin outta both sides of his mouth

NYC (but PGH will forever be home)
Another thing to consider...

Most southern states are not nearly as adamant about the NFL as they are about college.

Which is why the Braves are a national brand, and the Falcons are an afterthought. There is a good amount of people south of the mason dixie who care more about college than the pro's. This is not really the case up north/northeast...

I appreciate you for at least seeing that this fanbase argument can't really be seriously discussed in a vacuum. While I wouldn't go as far to say the Falcons are an afterthought (outside of UGA football they're the most popular team in Atlanta) judging the strength of a fanbase is a lot more nuanced than posters like @Jesus Shuttlesworth would lead you to believe

I know that. That's why I said Top 10. Saints will never have a following like a Cowboys, Steelers, Packers, or Niners. However, I'm not going to front that on our fanbase is deep (overlook, tbh.) We got mad fans in Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, and DC. Mainly because the most New Orleanians found better pastures outside the boot. Add that to the regional territory, it pretty good. :ehh:

The Falcons have a core fanbase, its not their fault that ATL is mostly transplants. They now starting to win consistently, the transplants starting to convert over. If this happen in 80s or the 90s, they would have the Niners following tbh.

The Braves are 1 team. The Falcons, Hawks and Thrashers are 3. That's 1 out of 4 or 25% by my math. Did you go to public school in GA by any chance? :ld:

BTW, where are te Thrashers now? Fan base couldn't have been that strong.

And that's why the Falcons aren't in the discussion. They basically CAN'T be in the discussion because they simply have t been around long enough. Add te transplant factor and you have an extremely young fan base. 3rd in Atlanta behind the Braves and that college football team in Athens.

The Falcons' peak was probably in the early 90's when Deion had MC Hammer and all that but that didn't last and even if it did, there were franchises whose fan base was deeply rooted decades before that.

The Falcons have no place in this discussion and that's jut the reality. :yeshrug:

I'll always respect the Saints fans for showing up wearing paper bags on their heads. At least they were there. :manny:

But the top 10, in no particular order, is probably Cowboys, Redskins, Packers, Steelers, 49ers, Browns, Bills, Patriots, Raiders and Bears.

@AVXL this has nothing to do with attendance since 2008 and everything to do with overall support across the nation since the inception of the NFL.

While I respect your opinion, :heh: @ Browns, Bills, and Pats having fan bases around the nation. Saints is supported more nationally than those three. Pats is regional but betcha you won't find one outside of new england repping hard since the Tony Eason days. You can find a Saints fan reppin since Dave Wilson in Texas, ATL or DC

First off the initial discussion of this thread for mebwas about top 10 Coli NFL fanbases. That's why the Falcons & Saints were mentioned b/c they are two of the top fanbases on this site. In general, no the Falcons aren't among the top NFL fanbases, but that was never the point. You kept slip sliding & moving the goal posts on the discussion when all you really were doing was parroting tired cliches on Atlanta sports & Atlanta fans.

And I will continue to correct you that the Falcons are the most popular pro team in Atlanta. I'm born & raised in Atlanta and follow all the teams closely. Falcons get more support than the Braves

The Thrashers situation was complicated b/c even tho there wasn't good attendance, the team was barely a decade old & spearheaded by terrible management & ownership (hello Atlanta Spirit Group). There were more factors at work for why it didnt succeed including the NHL.

I see you didn't respond to what a fanbase is either. No need now. You can take your uninformed ass & keep it moving tho :tu:

:manny: I beg to differ. I've never been to Boston yet I've met plenty of Pats fans. I meet Bills fans in every city I go to.

Browns, not as much but I know they're there, especially among the older generation. Can't have a top 10 NFL fan base without mentioning the Dawg Pound. :yeshrug:

Wrong. I told you exactly what a fan base is, and it's not based on attendance since 2008. Don't get mad at me because no one gives a fukk about the Falcons. :heh:
