I big part of the problem is how zoning laws are set up.

Major cities desperately need affordable housing but people vote against building the property they need in the places that need them. Not only are politicians on both sides guilty of not doing anything about it, the voters on both sides vote against it every single time so the politicians have their hands tied.

This video explains the problem pretty well.

Yes. Most everyone agrees that there should be affordable housing for working class people/middle class. No one wants it in their neighborhood.

Formed my llc 2 weeks ago, new flooring and carpet put in yesterday, paint today, our starter home hits the rental market 1st of the month for me to become a landlord :myman:

I’m only looking for $1800 per month though for 3 bed 2.5 bath in Houston, that’s pretty cheap :youngsabo:
Congrats bro.

Glad I’ve only ever lived in low COL cities.

Yea its not glamorous (yet) but you can actually afford to rent and buy here.

plus people in surrounding states starting to pour in cuz it’s cheaper than their city :lupe:

If you can’t afford expensive rent in a city you can always move to those boring cheap cities and be an entrepreneur and create something that’s lacking in that city. At the end of the day that city is growing because of affordability which means the earlier you start your business the more clients you’ll reach out to

for example my company has jobs in Vegas. If I moved to the Vegas I’d definitely make a chopped cheese restaurant out there.

Yeah but it’s not as easy as oh just move to Lovelace Ohio and find a job and be comfortable, a lot of cities economy is lacking, nor do they have a job market, like what you think a nikka gon move to laurel Mississippi to work at the plant because they want 1700 for a one bedroom in atl ???

doesn’t sound like a rapidly growing place but a place like Columbus Ohio is tho and there is economic opportunity there. Some of the JP Morgan offices are there for example

Just start a business on the side :russ: they might need black beauty hair product in the middle of boonies. I'm being sarcasatic, but imo, there's a lot of evil shyt going on, and I think 3 in roomies in 2 bd might be a real close future.

I just looked up Orlando rent and it says it's less affordable than San Francisco.

Orlando is built on tourism. Most folks are not making that type of money.

Goes to show you that making more money will always be the top tier financial decision. Low incomes or stale incomes become problematic when cost of living is rising rapidly

Nah, it just means somethings about to happen. Nobody will be able to afford rent in a short time with rates going up like they are now.

It's not going to end well for the economy.

But they already told you the plan. A totalitarian government where they give out monthly living expenses and you do what they say. That's always been the end goal. They are waiting for the economy to crash to make it happen. Just like before Hitler took control of Germany before World War 2. It's not getting better for anybody. It's about to get worse. They don't care about anybody's life. They care about total control. "You will own nothing and be happy"

They tried to raise my rent by $300. Chucked them the deuces and moved in with my bro. fukk that. That’s like adding another car payment to my expenses.

I made a post about my rent going up $300 and folks were like, "you get new appliances :yeshrug:"

No I don't! :russ:

Everyone on the first floor up and moved out, our parking lot is empty :francis:

They let businesses park their cars to make it look like people are here :mjlol:

Man… it’s crazy. Prices getting out of hand. I believe some of the same investors that own commercial buildings that companies rent also own residential real estate and are trying to offset their losses due to remote work by driving up residential housing costs /rent.

They are gonna get their money by any means.

Company I work for is a real estate company and maaaaan they showed off like 10+ new apartment buildings.

My company discount is good until I leave, THEN they make you sign a lease at market rate the next day :dead:

I hate this country:mjcry:

This is the new normal. People are just going to have to accept it. If you don't have the potential to make a good income living in a major city is out. Either you move somewhere with a reasonable cost of living you get roommates. Property ownership is a rich man's game so legislation isn't going to cripple avenues for rich people to make money.
