Negative. That's the opposite. There are plenty of job opportunities in those areas combined with lower rents

Yeah, right. Those places filled with bizarrely cold weather for 6 months of the year, high suicide rates, heavy drinking, a bunch of CACs ready to lynch anyone with pigment on their skin, and only living for Friday and Saturday. That is not life. That's indentured servitude.

Even places like Idaho already have their real estate wrecked due to the white Cali residents moving there since 2020 :deadmanny:

Might as well live in the outskirts of NYC and DC and have a Work From Home job, while fighting against these greedy landlords that need a stern traumatizing warning :ufdup:

I'll keep renting for now unless I get a really good deal on a home. And its someplace I want to be long term. Lots of people move around every few years due to their job so it makes no sense to buy a home yet.

In today’s tight, competitive housing market, the first hurdle for many aspiring home buyers is simply being able to afford one. After all, a rent check is usually smaller than a mortgage payment on a comparable property. For those looking to buy a home overseas, the hurdles can get even higher.

A new study by Comparethemarket.com, a website that helps consumers compare costs of home loans and other products, weighs the pros and cons of buying or renting in 39 countries around the globe by examining each location’s average monthly cost of renting a three-bedroom home, the estimated mortgage payment on a three-bedroom home, and the monthly premium that buyers can expect to pay over renters. Data was captured in the fourth quarter of 2020 and drawn from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, a Paris-based think tank whose member nations cooperate to develop economic and social policy; and Numbeo, an online database that specializes in the cost of living.

Among the nations included, tiny Luxembourg had the highest mortgage premium, with the estimated monthly mortgage of $4,558 sitting about 50 percent higher than the average rent of $3,917. Next was Latvia, where the mortgage payment of $830 was 42 percent higher than the average rent of $582. Only in Italy and Finland was buying found to be less expensive than renting, though not by much.

This week’s chart shows the competing costs in the 39 countries that were examined. National averages are a broad measure of costs, as prices can vary greatly within a single country, and laws governing purchases, visas and immigration play important roles when considering buying or renting internationally.

This is obvious. Real estate is a scam. Banks needed a way to get people to pay interest for 30 years.. Real Estate and College loans keeps them too big to fail.

My rent on a 12 month lease was going to go up $200/mo

I just signed a 16 month lease instead and the increase is $60/mo.

No question that Im buying a house next year.
Its a defensive move really.
Theres no telling what will happen next time.

A guy at my job was telling me about how the plan is to eventually have all or most of us living as renters

And when I look at institutions like BlackRock and Blackstone and see how they’ve grown, combined with the lack of new housing being built, I think he might be right smh

Might as well get some work from home jobs , buy rental property , then move to Mexico and work online . Can always come bacc when shyt is bacc to normal (6 month visa anyways)

It’s simply a matter of there being more people than there are homes to house them in. The only fix would be to immediately facilitate the building of new homes all over the country, but because of shortages and delays with building supplies, it’s not possible.

Calling landlords greedy never made actual sense to me (full disclosure, I’m a landlord), it just comes off as sour grapes. People have a sense of entitlement and think they should be able to afford X amount of square footage in Y location for Z amount of money. When market conditions cause adjustments to that formula, and there’s someone willing to pay more for the home you THINK you are entitled to, why shouldn’t a landlord be allowed to rent it to the person willing to pay more? It’s not like landlords are sitting on these homes and demanding inflated rent, causing them to stay vacant. They’re still getting them rented ASAP to someone that’s willing to pay more for them than the “this is greed” crowd. I’m sure there’s a place you can afford to live in, it just might not be what you feel you “deserve” to live in, but blame that on the market conditions. The landlords are just the ones taking advantage of such. It’s not like when the script is flipped anyone ever bytches about their rent being too low.
