Cool story. So are there pics? Review of the sound? Anything?
The soundbar is pretty good. It has "built-in" low frequency speakers so it does give you low end sound without a separate sub. The bass level is turned up and is best left that way.
Overall, the sound is much better than the TV's built-in speakers.
It's actually wider than my ghetto entertainment center. it's disgusting so I'm not going to take a pic and share it. But here's a stock photo of the item.
It picks up the volume button from the TV's remote so I don't need to use the sound bar remote control. There's no on screen GUI, you use the sound bar's LED lights to program input signal, bass, treble, dolby and stuff. It's pretty simple once you figure it out from the directions.
I have a 32" Vizio flat screen TV (please stop it with the scust smiley. I'm not super loaded

). It's an upgrade from a 26" Olevia flat screen that didn't even have HDMI (yeah, I'm a late adopter. It had a DVI input so I bought an HDMI-to-DVI adapter so I could watch bluray... that deserves the scust smiley though).
