I'll believe it when I see it...cant get too excited about this. A couple of things tho...

what gives credence to this idea is that the Red Sox traded away "great" expensive talent like Crawford and Adrian Gonzalas for pennies on the dollar, and it resulted in an immediate turnaround and a championship the following year. It should be easy to sell the Boston fan base on the idea of trading expensive players on a going no where team, in order to help aid in a bright future.

While its so enticing to get rid of the disaster known as the Amare deal, this proposed trade smells like so many knick trade calamities of the past. Trading one headache for many more. Rondo is a talented player, but a confirmed head case, and is coming off a serious injury. Wallace's contract is one of the worst in the NBA, and hes a rapidly aging player. This is a trade with all the makings of a backfire, especially for an organization thats taking on water and looking for a homerun trade to save things.

lol @ anyone that believes this. I didn't read any posts in this thread, but there's no way this will ever happen. Knicks are stuck with Amar'e, and that's the end of it.

Red Sox and Celtics are not alike. The management teams think completely different. There is also a cap in the NBA and no cap in MLB.

Sox got away with it because Crawford didn't live up to expectations, Beckett fukking sucked, and Gonzo had to go to make the deal happen. We cleaned our books of a lot of underachievers who didn't benefit the clubhouse.

Celtics have a cap, so dumping all this salary isn't going to get us anywhere. Its hard to sign free agents to Boston. Trade picks are worth more than $ in the NBA and NYK dont have any worthwhile picks for a long time. Ainge is a former Celtic and wants them back on top. He won't do a salary dump without getting a top pick or top talent in return.

Shump is much better than Gerald Wallace. Wallace plays 28 minutes a game on a bad team and still only puts up 5 and 3. :scusthov:

The cap argument actually works against your position. In baseball the cap is largely irrelevant because its soft and not at punitive. In the the NBA its hard and very punitive, so the imperative is there to trade expensive players, and keep aware of the cap. In baseball its pretty much a non-issue for big spending teams.

I'll admit that the potential knick package isnt great, but then again whats the market for Rondo coming off an ACL tear, and who is known around the league as being a head case? There are a slew of teams willing to offer a boat load of picks and young talent for him? The celtics also arent in a position of leverage, because everyone knows they want to get rid of all of their expensive players...when healthy they are a classic NBA treadmill team: good enough to not get a high picks, bad enough to be a non-playoff/fringe playoff team. All im saying is they may want to completely press the reset button and start over. Shump is pretty highly regarded throughout the league, and a decent building block.

This article never says they would be willing to trade Rondo to the Knicks, just that they would take Amare off their hands. Some of y'all ain't reading.

They just wanna dump as many of their serviceable players as possible so they tank.

Celtics ain't trading Rondo for Amare, they just flippin it around and seeing just how bad the Knicks want Amare gone
