ESPN reports that the Boston Celtics, as they continue to field but remain unreceptive to offers for Rajon Rondo, are willing to make a deal with the Knicks for a player on a big contract:Amar'e Stoudemire.

The move would be a short-term win and a long-term loss for the Knicks. Getting out from under Stoudemire's deal has good parts, but it's only partially guaranteed for next season. Meanwhile, Wallace and Lee are fully guaranteed until 2016. So if you're the Knicks, this team gets better, but you lose the ability to clear space to add another star next to Carmelo Anthony in 2015, a big part of the Knicks' pitch to Melo this summer when he's a free agent.

So the Celtics are basically offering to be the Knicks' panic trade partner, but unless Boston decides to include Vitor Faverani or another big, it doesn't do New York much good.

However, it's notable that the two teams continue talking.

Stoudemire's been unable to stay on the floor and has been frustrated with Mike Woodson's minute restriction on him, while averaging three points and two rebounds in just ten minutes of play per game.

The stoop with dat dope fanny padding
New York can have Bass, Lee, Humphries, and Gerald Wallace for Amare and Iman as long as I never have to see Amare in a Celtic uniform. Send him home and tell him to you'll call him in the offseason when you trade his expiring contract.

Let's do it.

New York would have a much improved rotation with players that aren't knuckleheads or selfish and improves their chances of doing anything in the playoffs this year... and NY would fall in love with Brandon Bass

Plus Lee and Wallace's contracts will still have value, they're not terrible players and we've seen some pretty terrible trades so never say never.

Who would have thought Amare could get traded? Now it's a possibility.

Theyre really trying to tank. Its pathetic

That's not true. This doesn't make the Celtics that much worse. Bass would probably hurt a little, but they aren't even playing Kris Humphries and from what he has played, he could step in and play minutes and not be completely awful. You lose Lee, you just give Marshon Brooks those minutes... Gerald Wallace has played okay, but he won't shut the fukk up in the locker room calling everybody out every night.

I can't imagine they would count on Amare to give them anything. All he is to them is an upgrade over Gerald Wallace's contract cause it's a year shorter.

Rondo's one of the best PGs, maybe the best pure PG, and you're gonna trade him within the division?:patrice:

I'm sure the celtics could get a couple of picks from the knicks to make this deal. they probably don't have any recent picks left, so I assume those picks would be from around 2017 and 2019 at this point.

Would you take Shump over Rondo?

I think Bradley is going to be a much better player when Rondo comes back and he doesn't have to play his position part time. Get back to the all-star D that Avery plays and Rondo setting everyone up.
