Democracy is made to be inefficient with multiple checks and balances and that is a good thing in a stable country. So a president can't come in and do sweeping changes for 4 years and then an another one comes along and does the same. That would make democracy unstable. That's why in the US whenever a president party owns the house or the senate one of the party members flips and get feisty example. Romney(Trump) Manchin(Biden) and makes sweeping change hard to get by. Not to mention the courts and the multiple checks in the system. Democracy was made to do that on purpose. Its a good system for stable countries. Not in developing ones where sweeping changes has to be made desperately and with maximum efficiency.

Yes I do not believe this perspective of benevolent dictatorship. it has worked but only a few countries (i.e Singapore). One can make the argument that democracy really has not been implemented in many developing countries meaning that the will of the electorate has not been respected therefore we really do not know whether it actually works in these places because the electoral process is rife with fraud and/or outside foreign interventions.

If election in developing countries were held fair and free, then we kept seeing negative results in terms of lack of development, bad governance etc... THEN we can come to the conclusion that democracy does not work for developing nations but before one can come to that conclusion TRUE democracy has to happen and its results have to be examined in order to determine whether this system does not work for developing countries.

I am not necessarily saying you are saying this but essentially when people make this type of argument they are implicitly infantilizing people who live in that part of the world because they are concluding that they are incapable of choosing what's best for themselves in terms of political leadership. If you go to these countries, you will realize that most "democratically" elected leaders are despised by the masses because they were not democratically elected in the first place.

The way I see things the elites probably saw the violence was getting out of control and though this isnt good for business and took Jovnel Moise out the paint.
