Indiglow Meta (R$G)
Ultra.
Golden Boys was one of my favorite songs...and the jawn with Nas.All of the above reinforces exactly what I just said. You're kinda making my point for me.
She's not some run of the mill rapper trying to get put on who can just record anything fairly inexpensively. I think you're severely underestimating the time and cost it takes to hire bands for live instrumentation, professional singers, and song writers or co-writers.
I don't know if you've followed her career at all, but the fact that she puts so much effort into her song making process and doesn't fit into any category that can be easily pigeonholed (she's definitely not "neo-soul" and even resented that label) is one of the major reasons she's had such a rough time getting back into the industry. Labels figured the cost and risk of producing her music the way she wanted it to be wasn't worth the investment considering it was so hard to market what she does.
I was more of a Santo/Santigold fan myself....you keep mentioning rappers and that proves you're out of touch/don't know how equipment works. Most of the interfaces are designed with inputs for instruments: aka the equipment was madw for SINGER/SONGWRITERS. I even mentioned a low level one, without mentioning that group KING or any new folks like ABRA. "It's what she put into her music" That isn't required anymore and crowdfunding is a real thing for people like her with niche fanbases.
You said "soundclick" but there are singers, retro groups like TUXEDO, etc with midi controller, interface, computer, inputs for extra instruments.
They have portable "head booths" like the kaotica eyeball that make the sound even CLEARER.
It's not 2002.
Lol at "trap rappers in a basement".
No: girl in bedroom with guitar, keyboard, mic, interface, camera, grinding.
