I am really shaken here. I just don't know what to say. I love dogs and so this situation really upset me because even though the dog was under zero-control I just couldn't deal with hearing that yelp. I'm sorry, but these are the kind of people who should be openly mocked. There's no way you're a grown man with a family and acting like this. Why all the melodrama and self-pity? It's obvious they're begging for sympathy but pretending they're not with the way they made that post/thread. The "I'm not looking for sympathy" line gave it away. At this point, I don't care. If you've been crying for hours over a dog yelping because your wife's first instinct was to protect herself, and her child, then you're a lost cause.
I would feel empathy for the dog. IMO it's the dog's owner's fault for creating this situation

You might be underestimating the bizarre emotional mind state of dog nuts. He was probably feeling conflicted about the dog getting kicked or his infant child being bitten being the lesser of the two evils.
