You see the limitations in the RE9 combat system in a specific encounter in the end of the game. Everyone will know when they get there.

The clunkiness works for zombies and to create tension with bigger enemies or stalkers, but it does not work great as a shooter.
yeah that final fight annoyed me. It was the first time I realized that Leon can't roll or sprint fast enough to dodge those tentacles. It took me 4 times to beat him and it was by pure luck. I just stood there shooting and healing up until he dies lol

I just beat it today and loved it! The only gripe were the earlier grace missions because she moves so damn slows...lol. But once I got her gun it made the game fairly simple. I even stopped sneaking and was dropping everything walking like the GAWD Leon. 9.5/10 game for me. A great way to start 2026 gaming off:blessed:

I beat this joint over the weekend and this is one of the best Resident Evil games I've played in awhile...

I almost stopped buying the RE series after the last three installments (Resident Evil 6, 7, & 8). I'm glad that Capcom gives the option of playing in first or third person because I'm not a big fan of first-person games. The story and gameplay off the first run was on point from start to finish.

Capcom has been on a hell of a run since they started dropping Resident Evil remakes. Resident Evil Requiem is one of my favorite RE games. 10/10.

No way. This is a very good game but definitely not game of the year level. GTA will be 10 times better than this. Requiem doesn't even hold a candle to the best games of last year. Yotei and hollow knight were WAY better and far more enjoyable. The combat in RE feels so outdated now. Not to mention the cheesy storyline. I honestly think the dying light games even with all their faults are funner than RE at this point. Especially in co-op.

nikka you did not say Dying Light? :russ:

RE is always about a tight focused narrative and danger from even just one enemy. What I love is that they made the Grace sections PROPERLY scary. Playing with light and sound, scarce resources, tank movement, minimal enemy placement. Each encounter was a puzzle in and of itself.
Then you change to Leon and go fukking ham. Almost like a reward for getting through the previous chapter.

What I like about this game is that it actually trimmed alot of bloat from the RE4 style of game. I really liked Village....but it was 3-5 hours too long imo.

You're supposed to parry the tentacles lol. Ya shyt is ridiculous considering the size difference of Leon and Nemesis but they give you a huge parry window for it which makes it unbelievably easy.

I was talking about the fight with the SWAT team dudes right before the final boss. The game just doesn't control well against human enemies that can flank you or require you to pop out of cover quickly to shoot them.

You're crazy. I took the scope off the sniper, put the charm on it to increase damage and was 1-2 shotting every last one of them like it was nothing. That part was actually mad fun.

The main issue is that her movement doesn’t feel natural. It feels forced. And your statement proves that. It’s like they literally only did it to make playing as Leon feel “rewarding”. And that’s precisely the problem with it. It doesn’t feel organic at all. Making a character annoyingly slow doesn’t add anything to the scariness of it. Just makes it retarded. There’s absolutely no logical reason for grace to move like she’s clenching anal beads up her ass.

Playing as leon feels rewarding only because of how aggravating playing as grace is. It finally feels like you’re playing a game released in 2026. Making grace move at a normal pace wouldn’t change the game in any way. The suspense in her portion didn’t come from her slow pace, it came from limited resources. It truly felt like you had to conserve every bullet. And in that aspect, they hit it out of the park. And fixing her pace wouldn’t change that at all. It would only improve the experience in every way. What’s even more annoying is that she runs perfectly normal during cut scenes :dead:

I didn't say it was bad. It was fun and well executed. Especially how you can unleash a Licker on them if you shoot the tank.

You just really feel the limitations in Leon's movement mechanics in that specific encounter.
