hung out in Southern Oregon (Medford/Ashland/Grants Pass). I think the air feels fresh but people overrate the landscape. It's scenic but not as breathtaking as mf's say. I have a sister who went to some Christian school in Salem, and a brother whose brother on his other side, lived in Portland, and mf's used to rave about Oregon to me. Then I went and was like, this shyt ain't all that 🤣...
I have no idea what you're talking about since I don't know these people or what they told you :yeshrug: if they're locals to the area you shouldn't be taking their opinions seriously, they never lived anywhere else worth visiting maybe.

I didn't say anything about it being scenic or breathtaking im literally talking about the way it's built for people to move around and flip back and forth between being in the city or surrounded by forest depending on your preference

You said the PNW could be the GOAT region, which was relatable to relatives who told me how amazing Oregon was. Not that you had the same specific talking points...

I don't see any circumstances the PNW could be GOAT. Maybe Washington is something different but I've hung out in Oregon and Idaho and I'm pretty non-impressed...

These were family members sl they're native Californians who just lust after anything that ain't California 😂...
The most incredible thing about Black Seattle is that for a small population it produces a disproportionate among of NBA and D1 level hoop talent.

The infrastructure and pipelines and culture has to be A1 there.
Also historically a disproportionate rate of black musicians, as well...

I think this random interest on Seattle was triggered by Doug Christie, who been in Sac forever but is from Seattle originally, has a black wife and kids...

Places like this are no-gos for black people. This is the problem in The Bay, you're either poor or rich. There isnt enough middle class-earning black people there to have a real black middle class. It's why Los Angeles (always has been) and Sacramento (has become within the last decade) are better places for black people...

Any hopes for that to turn around for Black Seattleites?
Naw we cooked fam. The quickest way to make money out here is working for a big tech firm in any role, doing work supporting the growth of tech (for instance: construction/painting, staffing,) or working as a military contractor/civilian employee and yet nikkas are bound and determined to not get in the game :francis: .

Of my own family out here, im the only one who works in tech and all my family out here is solidly middle class to upper middle class. And outside of tech the other major blue collar employers in town are overrun by other ethnic groups (the Airport is run by East Africans) or sinking ships (Boeing). The Amazon warehouses arent bad work but I dont think nikkas are willing to make a collective move toward getting a foothold in them.

Amazing basketball culture. Jamal Crawford got everyone on code too. The OG’s like him, Nate Rob, Broy etc really invest in these kids as people, not just a hooper or a future bag.

nikkas indoors for damn near 7 months out the year, better work on that jump shot lol.

Plus the proximity to California and Vegas creates a nice triangle for players to play for travel teams, go to a lot of showcases and camps and what not.

I can't speak on the black culture as I only spent 3 days out there but that was one of the greatest cities I had ever been in my entire life.

Wonderful place

My recent trips to Denver make me wonder how similar Denver is to Seattle, culturally. ~59% of Black city residents live in Northeast Denver, which is 18% black.

Aurora is like Denver's Tacoma, the suburb next door with the higher black population.

Five Points seems akin to Central District, its the historic black neighborhood but today is super gentrified and is only like 8% black.

Denver is way more Hispanic than Seattle (boatloads of Mexicans, Venezuelans, Guatemalans, Hondurans, and some Ricans), but in return Seattle is way more Asian than Denver. But where Denver is black at, its really black. You can really see the imprint of Black culture in Northeast and Aurora; I wouldn't say they specifically feel like "black areas", but they are the only parts of Denver you can go to, and not miss us. We're Hella visible in the Northeast.

Is South Seattle/Rainier Valley similar to Denver in this way; are any of your Seattle brothers familiar enough to make a comparison to Denver?
