The Responsible Fatherhood Initiative encourages fathers to be present in their children’s lives, taking an active and responsible role in raising and supporting them.

There are many facets of this administration-wide effort. ACF has promoted father involvement and services to fathers throughout its many programs by policy-making, grant-making and technical assistance to states, tribes, grantees and faith-based and neighborhood organizations.

I am kinda on this....
the 72% thread got me thinking about solutions to the destabilization of our community....

On one hand, I like the resources and want Black men to take advantage of the programs... on the other hand... I am skeptical of the government teaching and/or telling men how to be fathers...

I do concede that the Black community needs to rebuild the weakest among us...

Coli dads and brehs & brehettes in general.... what are your thoughts? solutions? experiences?

I'm all for community-targeted social programs. Family counseling and such geared toward families in different neighborhoods possibly doled out by a chapter of some organization. I don't know if the government is that organization. Social programs run by them aren't the most effective in dealing with large quantities of people on a personal level.

At the end of the day though, I'm not sure abandonment is something that can be fixed with any number of programs, government or not. Some people just want to have sex and don't want to deal with it after. If it helps someone or some family live a better life for it then hey.

Edit: I also believe you have there needs to be intervention earlier than this. But the way our country moves, it'll be a while before comprehensive sex education is a thing we don't have to worry about because it's standard.

There's a case somewhere, in Missouri I think, now where parents are up in arms cause their kids are being taught things that I know a lot of teenagers know of and are trying without proper guidance.

We also have to realllly move past these same issues we've been talking about for years. Access to birth control, abortions, etc.

From the looks of it, it's not just a money solution.... it is a multi-faceted approach....


@Brofato one community organization that I saw linked up with this was A-phi fraternity.... So it's not just big government in a sense...

I wonder if the coli would utilize or have already utilized resources such as these.... are they helpful?

"Marriage education" and "Effective Parenting" to help children be empathetic and have self-esteem is only going to go as far as what they believe is right by the time they reach their biological adulthood. War criminals have self-esteem and empathy for their cause.

So the only way men will be responsible fathers is if they control the nurturing role ?

A lot of Black men don't want to play their own paternal role... So to make it better they should switch to the maternal position?

How do we change our culture?

Law reform, from small towns and big cities to full state legislation and the three branches of government.

Corporation owners of all different television stations would also need a reform or atleast a reform of what is and is not to be broadcasted, but preferably the former as well as the latter.
