Those numbers are heavily juked and skewed. shyt like mowing a single lawn for $20, once a week counts as "having a job". If you're not "actively" looking for work, meaning you haven't applied anywhere in the last month or so, you don't count as a part of the labor force, so you end up unaccounted for in regards to the unemployment numbers. Also, and I gotta try and find where I heard this at, but years ago I remember hearing if you haven't found a job in over two years, then you don't count as a part of the labor force either, because I suppose in the eyes of the government, if you can't find a job in two years then you ain't trying
.Even if the numbers weren't being juked, if the unemployment numbers aren't telling you how many people are underemployed(non-livable wage) then it's still a pretty useless stat.Most people will take the numbers being fed to them at face value unfortunately, so the stats will continue to be cooked and most people will continue to believe that only 3% of the country is unemployed.
