My first time hearing Chamillionaire was "In Love With My Money" when he and Paul Wall were a duo. I thought that song was dope. They split and I remember the MTV My Block: Houston episode. There was also a 600 page thread on The Reason about how Cham had next. I don't remember any artist having a thread for them of that size and his album hadn't leaked or anything. His album had a separate thread when it leaked. I listened to it and couldn't get into it. As predicted by fans "Ridin Dirty" was the one. Then he had the joint with Ciara.

Chamillionaire had EVERYTHING going for him except one thing: nobody looked at him as someone who was actually running the game even though he had a highly anticipated album that people held in high regard at the time. Then he dropped the second album and talked about how it had no cursing. Nothing wrong with having a profanity free album, but I think it turned people off because it was like he made it a selling point. No cursing works better when people don't notice. I listened to Nas's I Am... for years and didn't notice until a couple of years ago that "Nas Is Like" and "You Won't See Me Tonight" had no profanity. Rakim didn't use it in a majority of his songs, but it wasn't something that was pushed to the forefront.

Cham went and what Will Smith did and made it a point to mention he didn't use profanity. To many, it comes off as condescending when the artist makes it a point to point it out. And condescending comes off as corny.

Used to watch the video on BET & MTV on a nonstop basis when they used to repeatedly play this song. It was a cool little single.

I always liked turn it up better than this
I always said that was a way better song that I'm shocked didn't blow

"turn it up" was a moderate hit tho.

but "ridin dirty" had the concept, subject matter, catchiness. and the legendary guest feature with his fanbase attached.

not to mention the relatability. imagine if it came out today, it wouldve been even bigger in this climate. it would go down as one of the biggest rap hits ever.

Slim did the entire color changin click dirty in their versus

said them boys did skating rinks and the outlaws was sellin out clubs

after that battle

Cham revamped the entire click into dikkie suit and Durag wearing funky imposters

Yea that no cursing shyt was wack too. Damn this nikka was such a cornball to me. lol. And it ain’t even like he can’t rap. But at the time I wouldve rather listened to Slim Thug, Paul Wall, Flip, Trae, etc etc.
