Hated the movie and soundtrack.
The only song I liked was 6. If You Think You're Lonely - K-Ci Hailey

I caught flack when I made that thread saying how Ginuwine & timbaland got "pony" and "same ol g" from the Jason's lyric soundtrack.
a lot of feelings were hurt in that thread.
the original pony right here. Ginuwine's version was clearly an answer record. that's wassup but let it be known.
then we got philly's own whitehead brothers. sons of Nathaniel whitehead.
man this soundtrack was the chit.

You caught flack for it because neither of these songs were the O.G. anything. For starters, "Rodeo Style" heavily lifts from Zapp. Nothing about it screams "Pony" aside from the "ride" metaphor. "Forget I Was A G" isn't the O.G. "Same Ol G" either except for "G" in the song title. That song lifts from "Street Life" by the Crusaders and isn't even the same subject matter as the Ginuwine song.
Props for that Whitehead Bros. song though. I always liked that song from the movie.
that entire sound lifts heavily from zapp. both songs.
so you mean to tell me that Ginuwine & timbaland just randomly did a song about riding the rodeo with a similar sound? cmon breh.
as for the whitehead jawn, I wasn't talking about the subject matter. hell, I didn't even notice the similarities in the song titles. GOOD ONE. youre helping my point. I was just talking about the beat/melody.
You think the artist who made Rodeo just randomly came up with it. Whats even funnier is that Rodeo lifts the Swing Mob sound specifically Freak n You. The vocoder effect specifically. Its utiluzed differrntly in Pony. There are quite a few songs from the 90s that have a similar groove to Ginuwine's Pony With the same subject matter. Montell Jordan's Lets Ride comes to mind.
The otger song is a reach too. Theres a similar melody specifically Gs guitar. Still not similar enough for the other song to be a template. The g in Ginuwines song referst to Ginuwine himself. So there is that.

rodeo style was out before "freakin you"
that montell Jordan song came out years later.
the
M
melodies between "same ol g" and the whitehead songs are too similar breh.
DONT FIGHT THE FUNK.
