The Jodeci song I had in mind was Feenin which came before Rodeo.

Youre really going to argue that Lets Ride came years later and not acknowledge that the same amount of time elapsed between Pony and Rodeo. To make it worse the music
from Pony was complete in 1993.

Many songs have similar melodies. It doesn't mean the song that was released first is the original. In a lot of instances the artist never heard the version that came first.

whats your point with the bolded?

I doubt pony was done in '93. even if the music was done, youre already letting it be known that the song wasn't.

My point with the bolded is that "Rodeo" didn't just fall out of the sky. It's not the "original".

"I'm grateful for that. I'm not sure if it was his idea to use ['Pony'] in the movie, but it's been a great experience. I wrote the song in 1993. It came out in 1996. To see it sustain this amount of power for so long, it's a great thing."---- Ginuwine on "Pony"

ehh. not saying hes lying but artists get their years mixed up all the time b. we stay correcting artists' timeline on here everyday.

'93 could've really been '94.

I thought you had some sort of proof or something.

I'm sorry, but its the same concept over a similar sound. that's too much of a coincidence for me.

Timbaland said the same thing in 2001 in an interview with The Source. Timbaland even goes into detail about the song in his book. Other Bassment members even talk about how the song existed in ['93, How does he get his own timeline mixed up when he was actually there? Furthermore, how is the timeline mixed up when the person who produced the record is saying the same thing? Even funnier, is that by your logic, '93 could've been earlier just as much as it could've been later.

Dog just look at that roster who performed on "U will know." That kind of song would be impossible to create today. Who the fukk is gonna be on it? These nikkas had all MONSTERS singing on that one joint and it's like that shyt has just been slept under the rug.

Sidenote: Tevin Campbell is our most unappreciated artist of that era. A fukking shame how cuz doesn't get his proper recognition . All that gay shyt really fukked him up to be honest. Dude could blow like no other and stayed with hot production and song topics.

man it still saddens me to this day that the g-funk era record label didn't get its fair shot to get off the ground.

they went off on this soundtrack.

I caught flack when I made that thread saying how Ginuwine & timbaland got "pony" and "same ol g" from the Jason's lyric soundtrack.

a lot of feelings were hurt in that thread.

the original pony right here. Ginuwine's version was clearly an answer record. that's wassup but let it be known.

then we got philly's own whitehead brothers. sons of Nathaniel whitehead.

man this soundtrack was the chit.

Chad Elliot produced Rodeo Style. He was down with Devante and the basement. That's why you hear similarities.

Matter of fact the beginning of rodeo style sound like a tim and mqgoo song
