Revisiting the Final Fantasy XIII series

I skipped over this entire series. but played every other final fantasy game.

This came out during a time in my life when i wasn't playing much games. and it didn't draw in me to go back in play years later.

XIII doesn't have a main protagonist it's an ensemble cast. I know Lighting was featured in the marketing but she's not really more important to the plot than the other main cast members.

I understand that, but you gotta remember that the majority of gamers don't see it that way.

I didn’t even know these games existed

Like I know there had to be a ff13, for numbering sake but I had no clue it got 2 direct sequels or even remember any marketing for it

Not only do they exist, but its a series of games 15 (Versus 13)was originally supposed to be part of along with Type- 0 called “Fabula Nova Crystallis”

this shyt started the downward quality trend of the Final Fantasy franchise over the last 15 years thats only now being rectified with Rebirth and XVI. Imagine being gen z and your entire experience of final fantasy starts at Final Fantasy XIII, XIII-2, XIII Lightning Returns, then a botched launch of XIV, then a horrible launch of XV that never lived up to years of hype and marketing.

No, none of it is related at all outside of all being planned at the same time.

I love the trilogy. Lightning has a canvas down here in the mancave. Best Square-Enix character as far as I'm concerned.

I went back and replayed XIII and finished it again recently. It's still the weakest game in the series but I don't hate the game all despite its linearity.

Somebody is making the case that XIII is their favorite. I beat it twice and it wasn't as bad as people made it out to be but it wasn't great either. I think it's mostly due to more than half the game being an extended tutorial.
