Low-key, Sega has been killing it lately. Persona 3 and 5, Metaphor, Unicorn Overlord, Yakuza (Like A Dragon), Sonic games are selling like crazy and the movies have made over a billion. Previews have said Shinobi is looking like a classic. They might be on their way to where Capcom is now.
I wish they had newer arcade games, that’s what was so good about that system. I was a big Shenmue fan too.
Sega doesn't have the bread nor production pipeline to make a new console - it's even arguable if they have the software pipeline to supports/sustain one.
That aside, the first minute of the video in the OP includes the sentence "-maybe it's getting tougher for consoles, but game business overall is still expanding and there's the opportunity to reach more people". So yeah, no way these dudes make a new console. They're a third party publisher and will remain so, I'm afraid
a new sega console in the tradition of dedicated home consoles would have made this medium infinite times more exciting though![]()
Probably was my most disappointing console "upgrade" ever. Especially for the amount of money it was32X was such a great idea. Need more people to take risks.
Sega being back doesn't necessarily need to mean making home consoles though. Being an elite 3rd party developer holds weight in of itself.Sega doesn't have the bread nor production pipeline to make a new console - it's even arguable if they have the software pipeline to supports/sustain one.
