Why would anyone have patience with a QB that isn't gonna be all that great?
And how do we know this? The fact of the matter is that Geno is still an unknown. Yes, he's struggling no denying that. But he's only a 2nd year QB. He's still developing. That's not enough time to write someone off.

Chad Pennington made a great point (like he always does) about how to judge a QB, speaking from his own experience

"The process of finding out if a QB that you drafted is your franchise QB takes 3-5 years. The fans may not want to hear it, nor the media, but it's the truth. I know in my experience, the light bulb didn't turn on until my 3rd year. I was still learning, but I felt more comfortable and more in control then I did in the beginning. If I had to go out and start in my 1st or 2nd year, it wouldn't have looked pretty either"

i believe you....:yeshrug:
I don't know who I argued with regarding this play last year, but this pick six Geno took the blame for still disgusts me seeing Nelson manhandled at the LOS by a 5'9'db. I mean...and he's still on this team and even MORE valuable to the team this season because of Idzik screw ups. :snoop:

I didn't say he wasn't. I'm saying that if that's all he'll be, of course we're all gonna be like :camby:

He's not a one read qb. He just has no confidence in other guys getting open.

I've seen him scan the field many times to suddenly think he's a one read guy.
Nah, he's not a one read QB. However, he does seem to just lock on to certain players so I can see why people would think that. I remember watching him in a previous game (can't remember which one off top) where he seemed to just be locked on to Kerley. Making some dangerous passes because it seemed like he was forcing the issue.

Maybe it's like you said with him having no confidence in his players :manny:

Geno Smith should remain the starter but there is a larger issue here. Idzik is supposed to be this under the radar genius, but he was not aggressive enough in adding offensive talent particularly WRs to the roster. He should have taken more risks in the draft, maybe picked up Mike Evan, just something, if they try and fail in offense that's one thing but they haven't tried hard enough. Geno Smith has no real weapons outside of Jace Amaro and Eric Decker. But he has shown improvement this year, the Jets need to stick it out and develop him, they have nothing to lose. I can't blame Marty Morninghweg the guy has a good resume as an O-Coordinator he's trying to turn rotten corn into hominy grits.

Marty does not get off the hook.

Ivory got 9 rushes first drive of the game and stormed the jets down the field. Fans had been screaming for ivory to get more touches as hes been electrifying running the ball this season.

Marty proceeds to not give ivory a single carry for the next 5 drives. Guess what? 3 and out every single time.

The packers game we were up 21-9 with the ball on the packers 30 or so. First down. What does he do? Calla a deep pass to our 3rd string TE in the endzone. It gets picked off. We should have run the ball, killed the clock. At minumum got a fg go into the half up 24-9. Instead pack get a td its 21-16.

Lets not forget the timeout either.

Marty has shown zero knowledge on situational play calling all season.

There's no base offense. They run from shotgun
They can't stop the pass. It's all talent. A team that can stop the run should never have issues against the pass.
If Geno can go out there and put up 25-35 289 and 3td and 1int, that 1int will cost them. But let's not speak on the elephant in the room....

Amaro needs to watch some film on Tony Gonzales. He didn't recognize the zone here and instead of sitting in the hole, he keeps running and makes himself get covered

Then again, it may have to do with coaching. You're taught when facing zone, you try to find a hole in it and settle in space instead of running towards coverage.
