I don't remembering arguing pink is great as I haven't heard all her albums, but she does make good music from the ones I have heard, she has a great voice, and is a great performer, so yea, I'd be fine saying pink is a great artist.
As for Madonna she's loved for her music as much as her persona...and lol @ mostly white friends being an objective measure. How old are you?
And Janet and Madonna are both in my top 5, have you actually truly listened to Madonna? I doubt it. Both of them have quality music, if you like r&b more, then of course you'll feel Janet's is of higher quality, but Madonna has as many classics and has been super impactful from Britney and xtina to beyonce and gaga.
