Because it doesn't align with the fans and medias expectations for Bron and the Lakers.

Like @10bandz said perfectly let him do it on someone else's team if that's the route he wants to go.
You mean the Lebron who was a MVP candidate and will make an ALL NBA team this year? Yeah, definitely sounds like he's coasting.

It's clear in Bron's mind the 2020 title put a bow on his career. Just like Gil said on his podcast after Bron was eliminated, all this shyt is the cherry on top.

The problem is, that's a poisonous mindset to have within an organization.

I disagree. Him and AD have talked multiple times bout the outside noise of the bubble and circumstances of 2020, how people view that postseason and ring and not havin a parade too. He clearly wanted a "legit" one and he's realized now it's not gonna happen. He even talked that I heard all my career bout the West shyt and now in his last press conference after gettin eliminated he said we all know how tough the West is. West humbled him a bit.

It'll be more on par with VInce Carter's than Kobe's

Kobe was getting MVP's chants in every arena during his career including one time in Boston, he had a farewell tour for like 10 seasons in a row before he retired
You a Kobe a Stan..I mean fan, I get it , so I’m a just say ok and keep it going , this man said Vince Carter , dunk contest man :mjlol:

he's not even facing the same tough West that was around earlier in his career. He's struggling in a West that's been having 2-5 50 win teams a season. Kobe's era the West playoffs was all 50 win teams.

I don’t think anything will ever touch Kobe’s retirement tour. It was announced during rhe season, it was kind of unexpected and we never seen a player of his caliber announce his retirement during the season. MJ did his final year as a wizard but it was expected and he retired before. Also frankly Lebron never had the type of global impact Kobe has had. Ask his team USA teammates, ask his peers. Also Kobe played for one team his entire tenure when the Lakers were the Lakers. The Lakers brand isn’t the same as it was in 2016. That’s a story for another day.

Looking back the Lakers being trash and there being a set finality to Kobe's last year is kinda what made it special. Everyone came because they knew you weren't seeing them in the playoffs. There was no anger or disappointment at getting bounced in the playoffs. Then he left with one last moment of greatness

With Luka on the squad the team will be in the playoffs, and if they lose in the first or second round there will be no celebrations of a career. It'll end unplanned, abruptly with week long crash outs and everyone saying thank god he's leaving. Honestly he needs to go back to Cleveland
