"How many great left tackles do you see switching to the right side because a great D-end switches to the right side?" Sherman asked after Tuesday's workout. "You don't see it. It's great players stay on their side and they do what they're supposed to do."

The conversation came after Cromartie said last week on the NFL Network that Sherman couldn't be considered the best cornerback because he stays on one side of Seattle's defense.

"Go follow the No. 1 receiver," Cromartie said on "Total Access." "Follow him around for a whole entire game and let's see what you can do. Darrelle Revis has done that his whole career. I've done that. Patrick Peterson has done it. Joe Haden has done it."

Sherman responded to Cromartie's critique on Tuesday.

"That was unfortunate," Sherman said. "You would think that after me helping him get a Pro Bowl bid this year – you know, we went to the Super Bowl, he wouldn't have made the Pro Bowl otherwise – and now he's talking bad."

Sure enough. Cromartie played for the Cardinals last season, and here's the story from the team's own Web site about Cromartie being chosen for the Pro Bowl because Sherman was unavailable due to a Super Bowl commitment.

Sherman, however, said that switching sides as a cornerback kind of defeats the whole point of playing defense.

"Who coaches the No. 1 defense to be worse, you know what I mean?" Sherman said. "We're No. 1, it must be working. It's an effective strategy for us, and obviously we're playing at a high level. I guess when you're doing something great you're always going to have naysayers and detractors, and I guess it's one of those situations, but it's unfortunate."

The analogy doesn't work though. A left tackle will always stay there because once the line is set, they can't move and you want to have your best blockers at a quarterback's spot anywats. The defense can move rushers to the other side of the line if they saw the tackle move and they can't do anything at that point.

The way the Hawks defense is set up, how teams match up against him is a cue to the rest of their defense. Really brilliant on the Hawks part. While I don't think he'd be as effective if he didn't solely stay on one side where the sideline is used as an additional defender, how he plays in that scheme is :wow:

That left tackle right tackle shyt is bs :stopitslime: and sherm knows that :stopitslime:

He know damn well 95% of the league QB's are Right Handed. They need to protect their blindside more than anything :stopitslime:

Sherm trolling :stopitslime:
QBs being right handed means they throw to the right side more so than the left side. They don't throw to Sherman's side at all. He basically forces the QB to throw across his body. That's what makes him, and the Seahawks defense as a whole, great.

Well said. I never even thought about it like that. Thanks.
