At most, what you see in Rick and Morty is violence, and Rick's faux indifference to everyone around him, which is all just a facade to hide that fact that he actually does care about the people around him so much that it hurts him.

Well I am a big Lovecraft fan minus the racist shyt. I don't see the comparison.

Rick is a Lovecraftian protagonist. He's a damaged, mentally abusive, morally repugnant, and disgusting invidiual because he was cursed with otherworldly intelligence/power.

He understands and has seen things that humans can't comprehend. Dealing with normal people and familial bonds for him is like being surrounded by cave men. He's been to untold amount of realities and experienced pleasures/horrors that we can't comprehend.

Hell, go look at the goddamn alien designs. Those things are straight out of Lovecraft.

Rick's a broken character.
