Rick and Morty....WTF is this demonic shyt?

The creator seems to be a smart guy and there are great intellectual moments in the show however in order for it to do well commercially he has to package it with extreme vulgarity in order to appease the commoners. The main points will be lost on most. This show does more bad than good though.

The main plot device of the show is a gun that shoots portals that connects and tethers multiple realities/dimensions together with the protagonists being one dude, burdened with unfathomable knowledge, as a mentally scarred and repugnant individual while the other is an extremely baize but good-hearted child slowly being twisted by delving into unknown realities.

One of the biggest jokes in the show is Jerry's ignorance and powerlessness in the face of these otherworldly presences.

Look at how the portal gun kills. Tentacles, floods, poisons, etc...

After ATHF/Space ghost coast to coast/ sealab 2021 dropped from from adult swim I was done.

I remember one day last year I had it on, and all this random demonic stuff was on at like 11:30. I'm like wtf This is what kids are sneaking and staying up late and watching? No wonder two of the most popular acts right now are uzi and XxXtention.




ATHF and sealab use to be kind of clever with it.

One thing that makes this website frustrating is how old y'all nikkas are on here. Y'all folks are making references to shows from the early 2000's, I was 5 watching Sealab and early Aqua Teen. Sealab was lame af, but Aqua Teen was filled with provocative shyt. Remember the episode when hand banana raped Carl multiple times in 1 episode? That was supposed to be funny, but I remember being extremely disturbed by that episode when I was little. Haven't seen anything like that on Rick and Morty, or any other modern adult cartoon

Only saw a couple episodes but it seemed tasteless and transparent, seems shock humor is its primary draw. Perhaps the show is deep and profound drawing on both the philosophical and whatever to convey its derivative brand of comedy but I'll never know, cuz I'll never watch
The animation sucks as well, television is a visual medium, least you can do is make a show somewhat pleasing to the eye

It's well written but it's not deep. Anybody with a little intelligence can see this is the case after 2 episodes.

Animated art is just art. Movies, books, and games have handled those topics well, why can't animated stuff?

Bojack Horseman is an animated show and it's fukking genius but it tackles extremely dark things. It's like people think animated formats can't tackle adult themes like Pixar hasn't been handling adult themes in an animated package for decades.

I haven't watched a single episode of rick and morty and its already worse than ATHF. I've literally only seen clips on like IG or FB that auto play and its always way over the top.

ATHF got off the wall towards the end also trying to keep up with everything else and I dropped that. But initially it wasn't that bad.

I've read tons of lovecraft, the themes are dark, the universe is grim and unforgiving, but the literature still speaks to human conceptions of what is moral and good versus unimaginable evils that can't really be comprehended fully by the protagonists or the readers.

Shows like this just throw a bunch of disgusting, over the top shyt at the viewer for shock value and cheap laughs. There is no comparison. Don't insult my intelligence.
