Somebody explained it the other thread. He was an Iraqi war vet. Basically, amateur shooter + gun recoil + rapid rate of fire = you ain't hitting shyt, let alone a moving target.
When you fire a gun, the gas that is expelled from the explosion causes recoil, which moves the gun from the original aiming position. When it comes to trajectory of bullets, recoil moving the gun an inch has a big impact on the trajectory of the bullet. Generally, the larger the round, greater the recoil. A lot of semi-automatic guns have single action first shot, double action for the rest of the magazine, making it even more difficult to hit a target if you don't compensate for recoil.
