It makes more sense to sell 10 million one time than to sell 1 million ten times

Each album has a budget which makes more albums more expensive

Especially for a major artist who wants those big features, pricey videos, and expensive production

Let's say the average budget for a major album is about 500k (it's often a lot more than this btw)

To sell 1 million and have to do it 9 more times means it cost 5 million to sell that 10 million

An artist has to pay all of that back

Now if an artist spends 500k on one album and sells 10 million that's a major come up

10 million one time costs 500k, 1 million ten times costs 5 million

But think outside of the box.

Who can sell out a stadium more if that situation played out with two artists who dropped an album in the same year? In the beginning the bigger selling artist, but if you have 10 years of relevance, you can do sellout tours in all ten of those years and even more. You'll be caking for longer, burning slow like some good kush.

But the fact is that he came up with G's, he went back to fukking with G's, although he might've not moved any weight alone. He was most likely talking about sales in the whole world when he said that, since he had not moved a million in the states when he said that.

The only problem is that it's not like 05 any more, it's pretty hard to move a million records. Just last year, no one moved over 2 million. in 2012 about 10 people sold over a million copies split between like 5 genres and 4 nationalities.

So his statement about comparing himself to 50 is pretty irrelevant.
Looking at the fact that he's got 4-5 #1 albums and probably his 6th and the fact that he shyts out albums and receives plaques every time is a bit more interesting. Since 50 hasn't even been able to build a strong enough buzz musically to release an album in the last half a decade (which obviously was Ross's point).
