I listen to hip-hop that deals with drugs and violence all the time and I've never went to prison or sold drugs. I'd be lying if I said that some hip-hop songs don't have destructive messages, but if you let songs influence your decision making then you're just a dumbass.

I tend to agree but it's not that simple. When you're young, your brain is not fully developed and it's almost impossible to think long term. If you have no guidance by knowledgeable adults in your life then you're going to gravitate towards the strongest influence which is often hood rich hustlers and entertainers.

It's obvious that music ain't the cause of crime(it's poverty/lack of opportunities) but it does feed back into the problem in some way.

Its bigger then that its about perpetuating an image and a standard of black people around the world. It has the effect of indoctrinating fatherless and lost children into a culture that makes black people look like a race of people that should be exterminated or incarcerated. Its not just about capturing black peoples minds but the minds of non-blacks to view black people in a particular light

To the point when you ask someone *even a black person* what a typical black person looks like, some stereotypical image created by a corporation will automatically pop into their head.
