My point is people like and dislike art for different reasons...

I'm not saying that you have to be a street dude to critique street music.. I'm not saying you have to be a NBA player to give commentary on basketball..I'm saying that certain people have resumes and perspectives that give them more credibility..

Now I'm asking this because I don't know.. What gives Fantano the credibility that his opinion should be valued? He's a fan of music? Sh1t me too..

I don't disagree with any of this. But this isn't what other people are arguing. This is a completely reasonable position.

Is making songs for girls no longer frowned upon? You mention Fantano not liking music made for women as if that's a bad thing?

Also, are we saying that there aren't some basic fundamentals that we can use to judge all hip hop? Is there no objectivity with what makes a good emcee anymore? Does that all go out the window if women like the music?

You want to talk about a very small point. I'm not some. 90% of the music sampled by hip-hop was originally aimed at black women. Pac said it best on that front.

Your second point, there is for some types of rap music but not all. TM101 is a classic record and it doesn't meet some "fundamental" arbitrary rules on rap music. People that don't like it, don't understand. That's on you and it's cool but because those types of people (typically outside the culture) don't like it doesn't mean it isn't dope.

This review has nothing to do with blacks or "CACs" , or streets nikkas or hipsters, the problem is the pretentious snobbish attitude of the so-called "internet busiest music nerd". I would understand if Fantano had given "mastermind" a typical negative review (just like his "life is good" review), but to think that "mastermind" is so bad that it's not worthy of numerical score, thats just pure closed-minded hate. This type of reviews should only be given to someone like lil B.
