No, they know more about what makes a good film, or in this case a good (rap) album. IMO, Fantano is no less capable of giving a valid critique on a Rap album than 90% of the people on this board. This doesn't mean that he can or will give a completely objective review when it comes to certain kinds of rap, just means that your country analogy doesn't really apply.

And a lot of this "he ain't apart of our culture!" shyt is a defense mechanism for stans who expect everybody to co-sign their musical tastes, a lot of these nikkas aren't apart of the culture either regardless of how much they kid themselves.

Thats all I'm saying..People act like all music is just processed through a vacuum....Its good/bad..Dope/wack...

That's why my least favorite statement on these boards is "I just like good music"



I personally still don't like screw.. But I understand who its meant for and its not me...But I appreciate it and respect it not to write a review on it...Thats why the general concept of critics are dumb to me in general... If you're a vegan, why should I read your review on the newest steak house? You have to love the things you critique or your criticism rings hollow to me..

the fact u think his albums is solely about being a kingpin proves what we saying

Ross basically giving sentiments any nikka who grew up in the enviroment that Ross is targeting can feel

The struggles he brings up
The thoughts and aspirations he portrays
The hint of spirituality that can be found in most street nikkaz

There is a something to be said about this type of white guy.. It's like how Dave Chapelle explained his differences with Neal Brennan on Oprah and their eventual business seperation..It's one thing to be an expert on Black comedy.. But something totally different to be an expert on being black...

This goes back to my Friday analogy.. Just because you know film and know comedy doesn't mean you know more than the audience something is geared towards...
