Old School Players to New School Fools
This will be my thrid post in this thread.
Initial impressions were that the album was poor..
Then after second / third listen I though that album could grow..

It hasnt..
I only like one track - Vein which is basically a Weeknd track.

Its quite poor, Mafia Music 3 really is a mess...
You know when somebody has rushed an album when they put 'You Know I Got It' as a deluxe track.

I'm blown away by the Mastermind album (especially the deluxe addition). I can't remember an artist going on a run like this since prime Jay-Z (98-03). Something needs to be said for brilliance that not only the project exudes but the people who've been working with Roberts on bringing his character (his version of Rick Ro$$ to life)

When you go back and look at the inception of his career as "Teflon" and "Willow", putting in work as a ghost writer while brushing shoulders with the Tony Drapers, 8ball & Mjgs, Scarface, Eric Sermons' you realize that he's a true student of hip hop. You also see the perseverance and dedication to succeed at a craft that eats artists up and spits them out at a quick rate.

Roberts ability to create propaganda around the name and the exaggerated lyrics also play a key role in his success. If you don't listen with a keen ear and your just listening to criticize you'll miss the jewels he's actually drops. From being a pro black southerner to just struggling as a black man in society.

William deserved the title mastermind. This brother went from sleeping on Eric Sermon's couch, ghost writing for Slip N slide artists, being an extra in major artists videos (Luda, Memphis Bleek, Trick Daddy) to being brought to Def Jam in the early 2000s by Face only to be rejected and sought back years later when he had fine tuned his image and crafted a hit record.

Now he's a young exec with an empire. I hope he begins to focus on artist development with not just his core (wale & meek) but with the younger acts Stalley, Rockie, & Fat Trel. William is blessed and it's dope to watch him do his thing.
