I think this album was his way of officially establishing himself as a 'fictional rapper.' Not to hate, because I LOVE the album and its still on repeat, but the lies are so outlandish and absurd that most are not even believable.

Career wise I think it works. Don't listen to what he says like he's telling us his life, sit back and relax like he's telling us a story.

I'm still reading through this big ass thread but, I wanted to quote this post. That's what Ross does so well. He's not the first braggadocios, big personality, stunting type rapper but, the way he does it, makes you want to go out and grind. If you can listen to his joints and not get motivated to do whatever it is you want to do in your life, you just destined to be a dusty nikka.

i don't care if someone doesn't like the album. it's the reasons given that become the problem. when people come in here and say the beats are weak or ross lies (although just about every rapper is telling ), i find that lame. if you want to say the beats are not your thing and you're more into jazzy stuff or rock stuff or something, COOL. but to come in here and say the production is weak? that's bullshyt. that's like someone saying wolf on wall street or goodfellas or god father had shytty direction.

you can not like those movies (i didn't really like wolf on wall street, personally), but the direction in all three of those films was great. likewise, the production on ross' album is some of the best i've heard in years on any major release. to say it's garbage is clearly some hating nonsense.

Honestly to me, Ross's albums sound like a continuation same talk over nice beats for the most part. I think DTR is his best album. This album is not as good as cats on this board are making it out to be. Stop confusing some nice beat selections with a great album. Every fire joint on this album is primarily because of the production, Ross still talking about the same shyt. I can listen to a cat like Nasty Nas on some avg beats because of his lyrical ability. All dudes that go hard for Ross ask yourself honestly if you would still mess wit Ross if he had a ear for avg or wack beats. His beats carry him and it's not hate, I'm a fan of hip-hop and jus call it like I hear it.
