Not sure what a 2 year old self promotional press conference or some years old random online interview from a member of the camp has to do with common fukking sense expectations of an album that dropped yesterday :heh: ... who here was saying Mastermind was supposed to be the peak of Ross' career? cause I'm pretty sure I saw you or some other 50 stan saying just a couple days ago suggesting he would 2Chainz BOATS 2 numbers and he was over or some sh!t, but now that he projected to do pretty much the same numbers he's always done it's "but but remember 2 or 3albums ago during the first Obama administration when people were speculating how big he could get"...that question's already been answered and put to bed...the way you're harping over this sh!t you'd think Ross went from selling 7 or 8 million lps to cheating the chart to artificially inflate first week numbers, having his label imprint dropped leaving his artists to be deal-less bum mixtape rappers, to struggling to go gold himself, putting out like 8 flopped singles, have his album pushed back 4 years, and eventually dropped for his label and signing to low budget pseudo-indie or some shyt...
Wasnt me saying that:camby:, im on record saying I wouldnt be surprised if it did 150-200k. Forget all that bullshyt u talking, everybody knows Rick Ross has been hyped up to be this superstar hes not by countless journalists and rappers but his record sales dont reflect the hype, maybe YOU personally never expected much from him but you dont reflect everybody else. Failing to go gold(which I bet anything he will) isnt "the numbers hes always done" but you dislike 50 so much you'll ride for whoever goes against him even if the bullshyt on their side is as evident as it is now. So continue on, i'll bump this thread later this year and see how you try spinning it as a win for Ross.
the mmg conference was to announce a artist he signed.... wtf

french said ross career was consistent and he rather have that over a career like 50 where u lose 90% of your fanbase(i dont agree, he just wanted to ride what the team he was with at the moment)

most of the rappers on the hottest mc's list aint go plat, nobody expected ross to go plat, only haters say this after the fact, less than 1% of rappers go plat in hip hop, jay, ye, drake, em

idk if can even count wayne or kdot cause i dont think either will go plat next go round

ross doesnt have the appeal of these rappers, but he is played more on the street than any of them on the list, hottest mc's is about being hot in the streets, and having a buzz and being all over the place, jcole didnt make it and he outside 90% of the list

plus AA came out before TD and after DTR(which is his lowest selling album
So we gonna act like the whole press conference revolved around signing Omarion and he didnt have a bunch of nikkas on stage talking about how much of a superstar and boss he is and we gonna act like French Montana didnt say Ross is about to go platinum. We gonna act like he was just a regular placement on the hottest MC's list and not #1, every other year the #1 hottest MC went platinum.

Idk what im talking about but u cant find anything to discredit what I said, how is Rick Ross an exception to not go platinum as the hottest MC when literally EVERY other rapper who was the hottest MC has? Why does Rick Ross get a pass for underachieving when hes one of the main rappers who boasts about how successful he is? Im out of touch but according to you Kendrick isnt gonna go platinum on his next album.. take your L and have a good night sir.

-last year kdot wasnt plat when he was the hottest mc

ross one in 11, his next album came out in late 2012

like i said earlier, they dont go off sells, they go off buzz, buzz in the streets doesnt equal sales

2011 cole didnt make it and he sold more than meek, wale, big sean, wiz

kendrick album struggled to go plat with the entire hip hop world on his dikk, that was basically his grdt and its only downhill from there, last album sold off word of mouth, if the album doesnt get the reception gkmc got then he wont(im talkin that word of mouth shyt that sold his album)

None of these "ghosts of hurt feelings past" arguments explain how an artist that has only ever in his entire career gone gold, selling 150K on his 6th album in 2014 is supposed to be crazy mindblowing sh!t...all this other sh!t bout you being butthurt over sh!t from years and multiple albums ago is beyond the point...rappers don't continue to get bigger forever....they start at a point, eventually peak at some point, and decline...it's called a typical fukking career arc :pachaha: ...except that in this case, he's having a better career longevity and consistency wise than most

Deeper Than Rap - 158,000 first week
Teflon Don - 176,000 first week

If Mastermind sells 140-160K first week, its not the end of the world

It's definitely not the end of the World if Ross flops. Which he is. GFID did over 200k and he is supposed to be doing atleast the same numbers this time around.

Can we stop making album sales threads? This ain't 1998, I don't remember the last cd I bought that wasnt a mixtape. Nobody buys music anymore, I bet that pharell single got a million or more downloads on itunes.

Dude, stop. You don't even know Ross's sales history.

POM 187K
Trilla 198K
DTR 158K
TD 176K
GFID 218K

Like I said, its not out of the ordinary given his past first week sales. Mastermind gonna sell 450K like Deeper Than Rap. Could sell more if it has enough singles. I haven't listened to the album yet, so I don't know.

POM and Trilla were before the whole Ross is hottest in rap bullshyt. It was with GFID he should've been escalated to superstar status. But he fukked up and now the interest is going down. I dont think he will sell as well as he did with DTR

I wonder if people are getting fatigued with Happy. Between the 24-hour music video, the viral nature of the song, it having been out for so long, and it getting more plays with the album coming out this week, and him performing it at the Oscars, it's been out there a LOT. Maybe he should've started to service the next single a little earlier vs. riding Happy for so long. But the song is still doing well on the charts though - it just hit number one within the last week or so.

Maybe it's a matter of the pop music fan base being fickle like someone else said.
