I don't understand why people are dissing streams like this is 2008 or something.

Streams ARE the new sales. This goes for everybody. It would be like nikkas dissing an artist over selling more CD's than Vinyl.

Music profits peaked in 1999. $18.99 album in 99 not adjusted for inflation >>>> Stream unless someone listens to it enough time for ad dollars and/or subscription fees.

All I know artist can't make decent money off of streams....See Aloe Blacc 2013-2014, ouch!!!!

Don't fall for the propaganda. There is a difference between songwriter royalties and performance royalties. Aloe black got paid performance royalties by the streaming companies as well which are way higher than the songwriter portion. That article only referenced his split of the songwriter royalties from 1 streaming site.

For example pharrell per the article below made $3000 in songwriter royalties in one quarter of the year from pandora for Happy (was 43 million plays that quarter). However the article points out that Pandora also paid him $25,000 in performance royalties during that same period for Happy(Based off 43 million plays). These articles always only reference the songwriter royalties. And this is just for Pandora. He is getting the same amounts from apple, tidal, spotify, google etc.. These artist are eating in the streaming era.

I don't know about Pandora but there's a lot of info on other streaming services out there.

You can't go by what a major label artist gets for a song.

Back in the days people siad they got cents for albums as well, Tyga said he got 0 for millions of sales does that mean that there's no money in cds? The real question is what the label gets.

Does Tidal actually pay more than Spotify to artists for digital distribution?

This site says 1.44 cents per stream for tidal

43 mill would mean that the label got $614 900.

http://www.digitalmusicnews.com/2016/05/26/band-1-million-spotify-streams-royalties/

This one describes an unsigned band that got $0.004891 per stream on average

43M would mean that the band got $210 313.
